Position: Research and Business Development Manager

Qualifications:
Essential:
-Bachelor degree in Business, Science, Engineering, Marketing or other relevant area;
-Project management skills;
-Excellent English and Chinese;
-Proven analytical and problem-solving capability;
-Excellent interpersonal, presentational and communication skills with proven track record;
-Knowledge or experience of related research and industry in China at a senior level, with a good understanding of the culture, motivations and requirements of academia, industry and funding agencies;
-Substantial postgraduate experience in an academic, industrial or commercial setting;
-Ability to work to tight deadlines;
-Willingness to travel;
-Driving licence.
Desirable:
-Master's Degree;
-Rich experience in application of research project schemes;
-Existing list of industrial contacts is preferred;
-Existing contact with local, provincial and national funding agencies in China.

Salary & Benefits: 70,000 RMB 116,000 RMB per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
-To identify, promote and support the development of new funding opportunities and proposals, especially those involving industry-funded research and strategic and collaborative schemes (e.g. local, provincial, national) to academics in the University;
-To enhance the current and planned research portfolio of the University and support important areas, expanding industrial needs and facilitating an increase in the impact of this profile;
-To promote the University's research expertise, represent the University at local, provincial, national and international events, and respond to all relevant external enquiries;
-To contribute to the sustainability of research and knowledge transfer in the University;
-To support implementation of the University's research strategy, in particular by identifying and promoting new funding opportunities for priority areas and engaging with key stakeholders;
-To take a leading role in promoting and co-ordinating opportunities for research and industry funding (including from local, provincial and national) across all campuses of the University in China, the UK and Malaysia;
-To work with and support interdisciplinary and collaborative strategic research developments across the University. This includes influencing and advising both academic and senior staff within the University and supporting proposal and policy development;
-To identify exploitation opportunities and work with academics in preparing IP disclosures and on IP-related issues.
