Position Description


Title: Cell Manager(Production Manager)

Organization: Operations

Location: Suzhou, PRC

Reports To: Program Manager(Operation Manager)


Position Summary:

This position leads the production activities in the Suzhou factory by managing production leaders and professionals who are engaged in the assembly and test of a variety of electro-mechanical products. The position carries an overall responsibility for driving shop floor productivity, quality performance, and continuous improvement, and for control of inventories and product costs in the manufacturing environment. The position also carries responsibility for team motivation and development, and is responsible for insuring that production schedules are achieved in alignment with customer delivery requirements.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

? Manages production staff engaged in laboratory products. Typically achieves results through Production Supervisors and Team Leaders.
? Motivates and develops production personnel to insure optimum productivity and a positive team environment. Insures that proper objectives and goals are established and communicated, and that the PMD (Performance Management and Development) -program is properly administered.
? Leads in a manner that ensures solid Quality performance and product integrity. Achieves continuous improvement in Quality and manufacturing efficiency by applying PPI and PPI-Lean methodology, and driving team improvement projects.
? Insures compliance with Quality Systems and applicable standards such as ISO and regulatory requirements.
? Insures that all work and support activities are performed in a safe manner, and is responsible for planning and oversight on 5S / 6S activities to achieve work place safety and good housekeeping.
? Carries an overall responsibility for achieving production schedules and insuring alignment to customer delivery requirements. Leads troubleshooting and timely problem resolution activities, as required.
? Maintains or supervises the maintenance of various records and performance indicators, to include time and attendance, vacation records, KBM metrics, equipment utilization records, and labor efficiency records.
? Responsible for insuring that all data entries in the ERP System and other data bases by production personnel are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
? Insures that equipment is properly maintained and that company assets are properly secured.
? Applies Demand Flow (DFT) and LEAN methods to maximize performance and control inventories.
? Participates on Production Transfer and other project teams as required. Insures proper transitions on all production transfers.
? Interacts on a cross-functional basis as required to insure proper Engineering involvement and records maintenance, timely and accurate financial reporting, proper inter-face with the Supply Chain organization, proper support of HR policies and practices, and solid communication across the organization.


Other Job Requirements: Occasional travel is required, including international travel.


Educational Qualifications:

? BSc or MSc in related field (Industrial Engineering and Management, ME, EE) which provided thorough knowledge of a variety of electro-mechanical manufacturing activities
? Related training, like Six Sigma, DTF (Demand Flow Technology) or Lean Manufacturing is preference


Experience and Other Skill Qualifications:
? Experience Required: 5-10 years managerial experience, of which 5 years in a manufacturing environment preferred
? Work experience from western manufacturing company with high-mix-low-volume -production environment
? Demonstrated ability to form and lead teams. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, internal and external
? Demonstrated ability to work effectively across geographic boundaries and with people of different cultures
? Project management experience
