Position: Escalator Mechanical CDE (Chief Design Engineer)
Location: Kunshan China

Escalator Mechanical CDE is responsible for the complete technical solution for a certain KTI project at a time, typically a component or minor escalator system level project.


Responsibilities and key activities
Create and maintain Project specification & plan:
·Create technical requirement specification for technical solution for R&D project
·Create project plan (schedule, resource, costs)
Create and select proposals of new technical solutions:
·Generate new ideas and create new solution proposals
·Select best proposals for selection / decision making
·Develop the technical solutions for given specs ensuring a) functionality, b) quality and reliability c) cost d) manufacturability e) interfaces to other technologies, f) compliance with applicable technical codes and standards
·Create design/engineering documentation of a complete component or product [SO, PG, DL, OF]
Manage Engineering team for Execution of technical plan
·Manage team performance
·Control & Steer the design work
·Select and monitor performance of external resources (from approved list)
·Write Task assignments
·Follow-up of task execution & controlling work quality
·Select sub-contractor
·Communicate to technical stakeholders
Develop Capabilities
·Develop capability
·Gather and share know-how of technology (e.g. PCM(Product change management),
C-process engineering)
·Provide practical rules for efficient use of tools
·Provide support for engineers
·Create performance improvement ideas
·Take development actions
·Create proposals for design guidelines
·Manage component library
Authority to decide
·Selection of technical proposal for R&D project
·Selection of design methods

Requirements:
Professional requirements
·Research and Development methodologies
·Project management methodologies
·Portfolio management methodologies
·Engineering/design - mechanical, reliability, usability, patents
·Knowledge of global and local legal requirements and applicable technical codes and
standards” to the “Professional requirements”
Entry-level requirements
·Mechanical Engineering or equivalent major and Bachelor or above degree
·Min 3 years of project management experience or excellent track record of one successful
major project
·Deep technical knowledge about the specific area (e.g. escalator system, drive,
machinery)
·Fluent reading/oral/writing English capacity
