Role Purpose

Merkle, a Dentsu Aegis Network, is hiring a senior SEO professional for its China organic search business.
The SEO Engineer is responsible for program development for all Merkle China SEO clients, including campaign development, search engine optimization, and performance analysis. Using exceptional hands-on technical knowledge along with superb client facing skills, the SEO Engineer works on multiple projects at the same time under strict timelines and budgets. An ideal candidate must have prior account management and SEO experience or Web development experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist to build and grow the Merkle China SEO team together with the leadership of the Service-line of Merkle's Planning & Media.
2. Works directly with clients in planning and implementing SEO strategies while adding real value to clients. Explore the opportunities of upsell of other Merkle China’s offerings.
3. Communicates regularly with clients on status, timeline, deliverables, performance reporting, competitive intelligence analysis and other follow-up items.
4. Manage the client’s expectation on the deliverables through client educations.
5. Provides regular reporting and updates on performance to clients.
6. Manages and executes online marketing strategies including but not limited to: interactive search engine marketing, search engine optimization, social media, and content development.
7. Extracts insight from campaign data, identifies relevant trends and provides well-developed proactive recommendations to enhance and exceed overall client search marketing goals and objectives.
8. Manages client brand messaging and goals, and the development of content for search engine marketing purposes, including but not limited to, keyword generation, blog and social media copy creation and website copywriting.
9. Works closely with key team members including, but not limited to, Management and Specialists, as well as team members in other functions, to ensure success of client campaigns.
10. Manages vendors and relationships.

1. Client Success: Contributes to the effective management and attainment of clients' SEO goals.
2. Client Relationship: Develop working relationship with clients through the effective delivery of project deliverables, discussions of client specific findings or relevant topics or event
3. Thought Leadership: Interfaces with other client service team members to share ideas and concepts that contribute to the continued improvement of SEO deliverables and overall "thought leadership" within the team.
4. Effective SEO processes: Helps to achieve smooth processes for the SEO department. Look for ways to improve efficiency of delivery of services.
5. SEO Expertise: Continually works to increase his/her own capabilities around SEO skills, business knowledge and leadership
Relationships

Key Skills / Experience
1. Spirit of entrepreneurism and growth-hacking mindset
2. Native Chinese with excellent English language skill
3. Minimum 5 years relevant experience in SEO or website development
4. Core understanding of effective project & personnel management
5. Experience with JavaScript, CSS, HTML and Content Management System programs
6. Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint
7. Advanced proficiency and clear understanding of website performance metrics, their significance to SEO, and how to track meaningful data using the main tools and programs Merkle uses including:
a) Baidu Zhangzhan, Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools
b) Google Tag Manager
c) Screaming Frog
d) Any of Google Analytics, Omniture and Coremetrics
e) Keyword Research Tools: Baidu Keyword Planner, Google Keyword Planner, Insights and client’s PPC data
f) Understanding of paid search engine marketing a plus
g) Website user experience and conversion optimization are a plus
