POSITION SUMMARY
Purpose
This position is accountable for driving profitable business growth in the sub-region through leading the sub-regional commercial team (LB, MB & PG) to achieve various targets set in the operations plan/budget in the designated sub-region.
Nature and Scope
The Commercial Manager should strive to achieve the best utilization of existing assets to continuously drive profitable business growth of Liquid bulk, Micro bulk, Packaged Gases through working closely with cross-functional teams like Production, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and GM of CWAP etc. As the commercial leader in the sub-region, this position needs to ensure that AP build a profitable leading position in Central & West China for its merchant gases business through identifying new opportunities in the existing market and entering emerging market, improving sales efficiency and lowering cost to enhance the competitiveness of AP’s offerings.
This position requires well-grounded technical, commercial, leadership and influencing skills to drive and develop the team needed to stay on course and within boundaries of low cost business structure. It will also require creative approaches of problem solving. Key elements of the role include implementation of corporate strategic planning and implementation, strategic account development, profitable business growth through the rapid loading, pricing improvement and margin enhancement, key account contract negotiations, cost control and management by working across the functional teams in the sub-region.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for Merchant business P&L in the sub-region.
- Drive profitable business growth of Liquid bulk, Micro bulk, Packaged Gases in the sub-region. Drive the peak performance to meet customer’s requirements in selling, marketing, value-added service and application technology support area.
- Achieve sales excellence through sale efficiency improvement, ensure good training program offered to new sales, and track sales performance through scorecard. Drive Pricing Improvement and Margin Enhancement to pass through the cost inflation so as to improve margin.
- Work with local operations and supply chain team to execute a disciplined operations excellence business model consistent with all China business model.
- Focus on building the density. Lead commercial team (LB & MB) to enter Chongqing Emerging Market and set up PG (He & H2) business in the sub-region by developing strategy and implementation plan.
- Improve cost position, reduce production cost, and optimize product delivery efficiency.
- Introducing new product portfolio to catch the profitability and improve market position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
University education (Business or Technical discipline preferred); MBA is also preferred.
Work Experience
Minimum 15 years of experience with at least 7-10 years in a managerial capacity in multinational companies operating in China. Had sub-regional role experience for at least 5 years.
Experience in industrial gases or chemicals would be a strong plus.
Cross-functional experience is a strong plus.
