Job Summary
PuBang is a design institute focusing on small and large scale projects related to environmental design, urban design, landscape architecture, architecture and interior design.
The Assistant Researcher will be assisting the Design Director and will be involved in a series of projects and will be in need to find, analyze and arrange and deploy in presentations information regarding environmental and sustainable solutions to projects, will assist the Design Director on making assessments of the projects and feasible environmental solutions .
Will help to manage administrative matters of the projects.
The Assistant and Researcher would is expected to be a strong support for the Design Director on the project proposals to be delivered to the design teams at the PuBang Design Institute and the relevant presentations to the Clients.
Background
BA degree or Master Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering, Forestry with Master in Ecology, Sustainability, Green Building, Landscape Design, Urban Design, Architecture.
Minimum of 5 years experience in large scale and small scale projects in either of the following: Environmental assessment, environmental valuation, pollution management, environmental economics, environmental impact, green building, low carbon analysis, environmental planning regulation, water engineering projects, environmental infrastructure, LEED, BREEAM, GREEN STAR, DGNB-Seal, CASBEE, Carbon Markets, Wetaland or Mangrove parks, landscape design, urban design, forestry, geomapping or imagery projects.

Technical Competencies
? Proficient in English, Mandarin and Cantonese (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening)
? Familiarity with quality assurance, documentation, Chinese landscape design, environmental and sustainable rules, regulations and best practices and skillful in applying these in China.
? Abilities to develop landscape design proposals, urban design proposals, master planning.
? Abilities to solve environmental problems such as water and air pollution, waste disposal, and public health issues.
? Knowledge of design and advanced principles of biology, chemistry, and environmental science to protect wildlife and natural resources as well as human life.
? Ability to evaluate ecological data.
? Assist to collaborate with scientists, planners and experts
? Assist on research and technical audits on environmental impact of project, analyze data and perform quality control checks.
? Understanding of sustainable design issues and policies.
? Experience in preparing environmental policy/guideline/assessment documents.
? Experience on Design proposals.
? Provide system and component design that reduce negative impact on environment
? Develop resources management schemes
? Integrate latest technologies into systems
? Document and maintain plans, requirement, protocols, and statistics.
? Assisting to Provide administrative support for projects by collecting data, providing project documentation, assisting on training staff, and performing other general administrative duties
? Develop proposed project objectives and targets, and report to management on progress in attaining them.
? Assist in budget implementation, forecasts, and administration.
? Assess, sort, characterize, and pack known and unknown materials.
? Do translation in between Chinese / English – English / Chinese documents.
? Project management experience is an advantage
? Experience to contribute on environmental solution proposals for new projects is an advantage
? Assist to prepare presentation files in different kinds of software. ( Mainly InDesign and PowerPoint )
? Competency with AutoCAD, GIS, Microsoft Office and Environmental Software is a plus.

Special Notes
In you probationary period you will be asked to develop organizational development tasks, research and analyze environmental news of relevant fields to our design firm network, write reports, manuals and briefs; do presentations of the work done by you and your colleagues; and assist the Principal in successfully develop the company with administration tasks. You might be asked to travel for short business trips (not more than 5 days and all expenses paid by the Company) to meet clients, do interviews, research, collect environmental data, assist to presentations and write reports about it.
The candidate should assist a Foreign Design Director to communicate with design teams in Mandarin and Cantonese. Strong sense of team work and inter-personal skills are required.
The candidate should is not expected to meet 100% of the Technical competencies, but should have strong language ability and at least strength in 3 of any of the points mentioned.
