Your mission
To strengthen our Fabric Buying team, Dorel Juvenile Asia Sourcing Operations (DJASO), is looking for an experienced Textile Specialist, who will be responsible for the design and production of fibers, yarns and fabrics, and carry out a range of technical, investigative and quality-control work to make sure the end fabric performs to specifications.
In this position you report to the Buyer Manager Fabrics.
Key responsibilities
Work on the development of fabrics, improving production efficiency and quality, while liaising with those involved in the development and production process. To make the bridge between stylist and the supplier bringing added value to the process.
Furthermore you will:
? Identifying the latest fabric trends, developments and innovations
? Overseeing the dyeing, printing and finishing processes
? Ensuring quality in areas such as strength, durability, colorfastness, and water and chemical resistance
? Advising commercial colleagues on technical aspects of the business
? Liaising with designers and suppliers, and suggest designers how to suit production methods
? Sourcing fabrics and accessories in alignment with the Buying Manager
? Undertaking quality evaluations of materials, lab dips and strike-offs
? Responding to technical queries, including complaints, from designers and suppliers
? Undertake research to find new ways of using yarns
? Knowledge of chemicals that may be added to fabrics to make them more waterproof, flame-resistant, shrink-resistant, more sustainable
? Experiment with textiles to improve their look, feel, texture and durability
? Work with Global Fabric/Fashion Teams to achieve fabric development goals & objectives
? Develop collaborative relationships with Global Fashion Teams
? Problem solve all Fabric related issues to FRTP
? Assist in the standardisation for fabric development SOPs
Your profile
As a Textile Specialist, you have:
? Bachelor’s degree or above in Textile Engineering or related discipline
? Minimum of 10 years working experience in a comparable role
? Technical understanding of fabric construction, weaving, knitting, dying & finishing
? Excellent color perception and good understanding of color theory related to fabric
? Infant, juvenile, toy related fabric experience is an advantage
? Understanding of United States and European Testing Standards is desirable
Furthermore you have:
? Strong communication skills
? Analytical and detailed oriented
? Flexible and able to multi-task handling
? Able to train & coach others
? Self-starter and able to work independently
? Team player, able to work across multiple disciplines
? Proficient in spoken and written in English
