Principle Accountabilities:
? Understand and live by Axalta’s core values of SHE, ethics, people treatment and quality.
? Develop recipes for products following APQP process. This includes preparation of a lab sample and sufficient testing to demonstrate fulfillment of customer specifications, including colour. Recipes should be designed in such a way that they can be manufactured efficiently in a lean process, ie. in a production cell, where relevant, and with minimum adjustments required for colour, viscosity and other properties. OK on load is the target. Recipes should be reviewed regularly, eg. after 3 production batches to ensure that they are centered for maximum production efficiency. Recipes are also to be developed to be cost effective, meeting our customers requirements while using low cost materials. A chemist must understand how recipe cost impacts the profitability of our company. This will involve work on VMI projects.
? Work with application team to develop application line simulation parameters to ensure that line trials and product introductions are right first time. This will involve good communication with relevant line service personnel to obtain up-to-date line conditions.
? Communicate with account teams to ensure that all project team members are fully up-to-date with technical progress on projects.
? Work with operations to define process instructions for manufacture of products. Will require basic understanding of our manufacturing processes.
? Lead new / modified product alignment (scale up) into production, following the agreed alignment procedure. Where modifications have been made to existing recipes, the MOC procedure is to be followed to ensure good communication with planning, sourcing, QC and other relevant departments.
? When relevant, a chemist is responsible for finding suitable rework routes for using up distressed inventory or other non-productive inventory to minimise the financial impact of poor quality.
? Keep test specifications and test methods up to date, develop new specifications and methods as required. Aim to minimise the amount of testing needed to meet our customers requirements.
? Ensure all project documentation is completed properly and in full and available for any internal or external quality audits.
? Attend line trials of new product launches at customer sites.
? Lead or take active role in problem solving of customer issues using appropriate methodology, eg. 8D.
? Train and supervise technicians, ensuring that they understand DuPont’s core values. Plan work for the technician to keep them fully occupied with appropriate tasks.
? Understand the process overview.
? Understand specific hazards on safety, health, environment related to the process.
? Understand the operation procedure.
? Safety practices related to work tasks.
? Understand PSM principles and key features ,techniques and PSM factors related to operation

Skill and Knowledge Required:
？ B.S. in Chemistry or equivalent color development/adjusting experience
？ 3 years manufacturing experience
？ Good computer skills including office, database, and statistics
？ Six Sigma Green or Black belt trained / certified is preferred
？ Capability and desire to seek input from all levels of manufacturing and technical organizations
？ Strong verbal and written command of the English language is a must because Axalta is a multi-national company where business is conducted primarily in English.
