Trade and Marketing: You will join our Special Cargo team in the Trade and Marketing organisation in our regional Shanghai office in Maersk Line, which plays a key role in cementing our position as global market leader in the liner shipping industry. The Special Cargo Team is responsible for all cargo which is exceeding the dimensions of standard containers. The team has the overall responsibility for the commercial strategy, operational execution and optimizing the profitability for Special Cargo.

The Role
Do you want bridge commercial and operational acceptance for Maersk Line Special Cargo?
You will be an integrated part of our Special Cargo team, linking the needs of Special Cargo customers with the commercial and operational acceptance of Maersk Line.
You will be handling non-standard transport solutions on Maersk Line container vessels and, via your interaction with internal stakeholders, terminals and customers, be able to identify solutions which are executable by Maersk Line. Through an end-to-end involvement, you will follow the cargo from quoting and booking through final delivery, and ensure a clear alignment across the process.
The scope of the position creates an exposure to a variety of stakeholders at all levels and utilizes your ability to maintain a high-level overview and at the same time being on top of the details. It challenges you to find new opportunities to optimize the Maersk Line capabilities for Special Cargo, while acting as sparring and support to the rest of the regional Special Cargo team.
As part of the regional team, you will be driving internal and external awareness about Maersk Lines capabilities within the Special Cargo segment. This involves conducting business development initiatives at all levels and training sessions across the region. You will furthermore work as a support for the regional salesforce and customer service, providing technical expertise within the special cargo segment.
Guided by our customers’ needs, you will be responsible for mitigating challenges in our existing Special Cargo setup and for driving a continuous process optimization and improvement. This involves working closely together with our other regional offices in North America and the Netherlands.
You will be overall responsible for project acceptance and internal coordination and provide input and assistance in negotiations. This includes collection of market information about competition, customer’s preferences and other intelligence.
You will be reporting to the Head of the Asia Region.

About You
We expect you to have prior experience with Special Cargo and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a shipping/logistics related role. Your commercially oriented mindset makes it natural to focus on the customer experience and you have a pride in always performing at your best. You have experience with business development and are able to identify differentiating factors and provide recommendations on how to convert these into actual business, while driving projects independently and interacting with high-level stakeholders.
You are a quick learner, enabling you to acquire deep insight into the Maersk Line Special Cargo capabilities, high level stakeholders, and to play a vital role in the day-to-day execution of our Special Cargo strategy in the region.
You are service oriented and thrive in an environment of many different stakeholders and are able to build good working relationships across organizational layers and functions.
Through your strong verbal and written communication skills, you have the ability to make our customers and internal stakeholders confident in our service and feel taken care off. You are a creative, dynamic and outgoing person who feels at home in a multi-cultural setting.
You have strong analytical skills, the ability to work systematically and an energetic, positive mind-set and attitude. You are furthermore proficient in collection, research and assessment of information.
