Group Procurement is a global corporate service function within the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group working with a variety of global sourcing projects, management of large strategic categories and logistics across the entire Group. Maersk Procurement Shanghai was established in 2005 and employs 30 staff today to cater for the Asian supply market, including support for the Asia sourcing activities of Dansk Supermarket Group, in which A.P. Moller-Maersk is a shareholder. Dansk Supermarked Group operates about 1400 stores in Europe in the range from discounter to mega market size.
The Merchandise Manager position is in place since 2005 which we are seeking to replace, hence we are looking for a talented individual to take this position on a permanent basis.

The Role
The primary role of the Merchandise Manager is to connect with the Dansk Supermarket retail organization in Denmark, evaluate and execute Asia sourcing opportunities to drive cost savings.
- Staying abreast of market developments through market review and attending relevant trade fairs
- Supplier preview
- Prepare offers on corporate standard
- Order follow-up
- Inline/final inspection where required
- Claims/ discrepancy handling
The success of the position is being measured based on stakeholder (buyer) satisfaction, USD spend and number of orders handled, savings achieved (for recurring products with clear baseline) as well as adherence to processes and procedures.

About You
You need 8-10 years experience for this position, in either a Trading Company or Buying Office, for a wide range of retail items with focus on hardlines. While a degree of product development is desired, the key skill will be selling the benefits of direct product sourcing in Asia, and execute opportunities based on existing items in the market. Since the vast majority of activities will be with suppliers in China, the main experience should be in China, for a Chinese national or foreign national with excellent Chinese language skills.
