职位描述
Basic Purpose and Objective
Evaluate applications/inquiries, issues and opportunities from Customers, Territory/Regional Managers and Distributors. Ensure customer acceptance of our products and services, and through close and constant interaction with key internal and external contacts, conceive and articulate new product concepts and solutions. Personally manage the Global Applications Engineering resource to optimize profitable revenue opportunities arising from this interaction.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
This Applications Engineering Supervisor will be responsible to:
? Participate in technical presentations to educate and train customers with regard to threaded joints and Spiralock
? Establish test protocol and specifications to meet customer requirements.
? Work on customer projects re: product and joint designs while helping field sales qualify the application.
? Review and coordinate all incoming applications and supervise and monitor workflow for Global Applications Engineers.
? Maintain liaison between Applications Engineering, Customer Service, Quality Control and Engineering for the efficient completion of assignments.
? Conduct training sessions to update the technical abilities of Field Sales Force/Customer Service Representatives.
? Support R&D in the following areas:
o Fastened joint requirements - service requirements, design, application, failure modes, etc.
o Fastener designs, materials, plating, etc.
o Cutting tool designs, materials, coatings, etc.
o Product testing & test protocols
o Manufacturing tooling and processes
? Provide technical assistance by telephone, e-mail or in person to Customers, Distributors and Field Sales Force. Visit customer facilities for the purpose of solving application and service problems.
? Review product literature for technical content. Prepare and update technical product bulletins.
? Suggest improvements to company products as a result of experienced service problems.
? Support product line expansions based on assessment of customer needs
? Promote the Quality Commitment of the Division.
Experience Required
? BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
? Experience working with and applying mechanical design principles. Experience with threaded joints preferred
? Experience in drafting and CAD, including use of Geometric Design and Tolerancing
? Experience with product testing protocol
? Knowledge of Consensus Standards for threads and materials a plus
? Knowledge of metal working manufacturing processes – machining, heading, milling, casting/forging, etc.
? Knowledge of inspection and measuring equipment techniques
? Good communication skills, including customer interaction, presentation, training, written and verbal.
? Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint.
? Project management skills with emphasis on meeting deadlines.
? Experience managing and motivating technical people.
? Experience working in a Global Environment preferred.
Quantitative Data
Indicate one or more key measurable results, in annual terms, upon which the job has direct or indirect impact (i.e., sales volume, cost of goods, R&D expenditures, budget, payroll, etc.).
? Meet annual ‘New Applications’ objective (# of applications, $ of new sales) for Industrial and Aerospace sales teams
? Timely resolution of customer complaints for engineering related issues (design issues, mfg defects, etc.)
Travel Requirement
? 20% Travel Required, some international
