Mission
The Fabric Quality Engineer is a key role to support the NPD program of Juvenile products. He/she is responsible for following up defined qualification procedure to make sure the textile and accessories fully evaluated and tested to meet pertained quality and safety requirements for NPD, Product Modification and or Product Transfer by following, developing, and implementation of quality tools and procedures, and teamwork with Quality Assurance and fashion team to make a smooth transition to Mass Production stage.
Main duties
? Work with Divisions, DJC Fashion team and Fabric Suppliers to ensure Division’ quality requirements, testing protocols, sampling needs, and product/ process controls are fully understood and met.
? Support Division, DJC Program/Product/Supplier Management pillars, and Suppliers through Product Development milestones to ensure Quality deliverables are provided on a timely basis.
? Arrange necessary tests in the 3rd party lab as per the Division's QR, and share the reports and results to the related person.
? Provide guidance during product debug through testing, analysis of testing results, and suggestions for improvements/solutions to address any substandard results.
? Perform audit to the process and quality control of fabric suppliers to make sure the suppliers built up and implemented necessary quality assurance mechanism and to drive for continuous improvement.
? Review Division quality, consumer and retailer feedback data to provide product improvement support. Work with DJC Quality Assurance and Engineering to address any issues identified.
? Audit the quality and color of mass production when in need and or as per quality plan.
? Provide ongoing product and testing technical support to Division, DJC Program/Product/Supplier Management/Fashion, Quality Assurance and Global Souring for ECN’s, NCR’s, Cost Reductions and souring decisions.
? Train DJC staff and supplier personnel in Regulatory requirements, Dorel internal requirements and or test methodologies related to fabrics and textiles.
Level knowledge & experience
? College Degree or above required, Textile Engineering is preferred.
? Good understanding of global quality standards and safety regulations of textile and garments, familiar with juvenile products and related quality standards is preferred.
? 3-years working experience in Quality field is required and over 1 year working in QE or similar function are expected. Have experience on soft goods quality is a must.
? Knowledge of fabric dyeing & finishing process and quality control is a must. Preferred the mill experience.
? Good understanding and working experience on review color, manage lots & quality control including appearance & character.
? Knowledgeable in the use of the Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
? No color blindness. (QE will be required to inspect products for color accuracy)
