Job Summary
The Sales Representative is responsible for managing the relationship and sales process of the district’s conversion opportunities within an assigned territory. He or she uses available resources to learn the customers’ business and identify business needs, and then proactively contacts customers to position UPS products and services to meet those needs. He or she is responsible for prioritizing customer opportunities and focusing attention on accounts with the greatest opportunity and likelihood of success. This position reports to the Sales Manager for the respective geographical territory.

Duty Name/Description
Uses Sales Tools for Customer Research and Sales Strategy Development
* Uses sales tools (e.g., Total Enterprise Account Management System (TEAMS), Customer Volume Behavior Analysis Tracking (CVBAT)) and marketing resources to research customer businesses, past customer contact, and product specifics.
* Uses information from the sales tools to identify subsidiary opportunities
* Develops complex sales strategies that encompass the customers’ entire supply chain
* Develops comprehensive pricing strategies that incorporate UPS’s broad range of solutions including subsidiaries
* Prioritizes accounts based on provided information. Focuses attention on accounts with the greatest opportunity and likelihood of success.
Identifies and Addresses Customers’ Business Needs
* Conducts face-to-face visits to accounts with an actual / opportunity monthly revenue of US$500 or more to identify customer business needs, sell additional products and services, and retain current business.
* Greets customers in a friendly, respectful manner that encourages customers to give their time and attention.
* Uses questioning techniques to learn about customer business, shipping or other UPS service needs.
* Uses knowledge of customer business to demonstrate value UPS can offer.
* Positions UPS products/services that support customer’s business.
* Responds to sales lead opportunities within assigned territory
Manages Accounts and Resolving Customer Issues
* Responds to customer questions, complaints, inquiries in a timely, accurate manner.
* Educates customers to use existing service channels and redirect service issues when appropriate.
* Resolves customer service issues (e.g. complaints, claims and damages, billing etc)
Coordinates with Other UPS Sales Functions
* Coordinates cross-functional support to further penetrate opportunities including the Supply Chain Group, Operations, Finance, e-Commerce, International / Freight Specialists etc for assigned accounts.
* Identifies opportunities to engage e-Commerce and subsidiary business units on a selective basis.
Stays Current with UPS and Competitor Products and Services
* Maintains up to date knowledge of UPS products and services.
* Researches competitor strategies, capabilities, and pricing patterns through using sales tools and marketing information, and questioning customers.
* Understands competitor strategies, capabilities, and pricing patterns in order to position UPS products advantageously.
Ensures Contractual Compliance/Securing New Contracts
* Reviews current contracts to ensure contractual compliance with stated terms (e.g., shipping volume being met, packaging).
* Facilitates the preparation of new contracts that meet customer’s shipping needs and make good business sense for UPS.
* Contacts customers with outstanding billing issues.
* Explains consequences for not paying bills.
Completes Administrative Tasks/Documentation
* Completes administrative tasks in a timely, accurate manner.
* Stays current with administrative tasks.
* Enters accurate and updated customer information into sales tools (i.e., call notes, billing updates).
* Records and/or updates all account activity in sales tools. Completes internal forms in a timely manner to ensure appropriate follow up.
