Job description
MISSION:
VP of Technology fulfills 3 roles:
1) Company Board Member charged with developing the company strategy and operational plans as relates to technology and engineering,
2) Leader of engineering team, and working effectively with global team to maintain The Company’s leading position for both core business and ASPAC business.
3) Day-today manager of the Design and Sustaining Engineering teams. In this role the VP technology is responsible for new product development, identification and supervision of external contractors and technology partnerships, oversight of intellectual property matters, and evaluation and adoption in AA of new technologies for Company.
Accountability
1. Product Development
Implement product development plan supporting ASPAC business objectives, specifically to achieve at least 40% of total company and profit from products introduced within previous 36 months.
2. Board Membership
Consistently high level of contribution as member of company Board and Senior Management group (C-level executives), as measured by qualitative input from Chairman, vice Chairman, President and other Board Members.
3. Product Roadmaps
In cooperation with Director of Sales and Marketing, Operation Director and the Board, establish short and long term product roadmaps with emphasis on establishing company as the industry leader in Environmental, New Energy and Security.
4. Global Technology Leader
Build up a A-class Technology and Engineering team by hire, develop, coach and lead the Engineering teams with 100% of staff rated A3 or above (with Career Development and/or Performance Improvement Plans in place), NLT six months after assuming position
5. Chief Technology Officer
The outward facing evaluator of science and disruptive technologies that determine the long term future of company. Spend a significant portion of time looking for ‘big’ opportunities that don’t exist in the company today and may be in their technological infancy.
6. Intellectual Property
Act as steward and originator all intellectual property activities to protect the IP position on a worldwide basis.
7. Professional Development
Ensure that all members of the technical staff have access to and take advantage of opportunities for professional development through formal programs inside and external, attendance at technical conferences, participation in professional societies, regular in-house learning programs and formation of technical and scientific advisory resources.
8. Develop in-depth understanding, appropriate to position, of essential elements of business, including construction and calibration of spectrometers and other devices, important applications, operations and objectives of business segments, markets and geographies, as well as underlying science and applications.

Requirements:
BS or above in Physical/Optical/Material Engineering or academic equivalent.
10+ years of proven experience in a similar product-development/Technical role.
Self-starter and goal oriented with competitive nature and a passion for success.
Excellent communication skill, interpersonal ability, influence skill and managing skills.
Fluent in English – both spoken and written.
Willing to take challenges and work under high pressure.
