Job Title : Softside Product Designer, China

Desired results of the job: Supports Softside Product Development by creating specifications and working with factories on refining samples for customer presentations

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assists U.S. designers with softside product specifications taking concepts, hand sketches or previous CADs and turning them into AI lineart with complete construction and styling information.
* Develops Specification packages for PPAP process and ensures golden samples and product specs are consistent
* Maintains a database of all product specifications for the China factories and Igloo China team
* Works with factories on behalf of product development team, and in partnership with the Igloo China program manager, to ensure samples are made timely and to spec
* Works with factories and provides own solutions to resolve challenges with Igloo design objectives
* Works with factories to ensure Igloo design objectives are met while maintaining a low cost and efficient mass producible product
* Communicates with Igloo design team and factories via e-mail, Skype, conference calls and face-to-face visits
* When the Igloo design and product management team are in China, the designer must travel with the U.S. team to visit factories for development projects, researching new materials or attending trade shows such as the Canton Fair

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
* Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
* Must be able to work with color, patterns and images in AI and PS and apply them to product specifications
* Business experience: at least 3 years in cut and sew soft-goods new product development and must have mechanical capacity to understand basic factory processes as they relate to product development.
* Excellent understanding of the English language both written and orally
* Strong understanding of drafting principles to create product specifications with orthogonal, cross-sections, detailed and 3D perspective views
* Strong understanding drafting principles to create views with dimensions, notes and tables for product specifications
* Understanding of product changes, by factory or design team, and how to document revisions
* Must be familiar with Pantone color matching systems and how to use the system in product development
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
* Must be able to quickly communicate design challenges between factories and design team using tools such as Powerpoint, AI or hand sketching
* Must be able to travel throughout China, other Asian countries and the U.S.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None required.
