JOB SUMMARY

The Dorel Europe (DEU) project quality engineer (PQE) has responsibility for coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to Australian standards and DEU codes (social, quality, chemicals); ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants. Responsible and accountable to ensure that all assigned personnel are coordinating their activities with other project participants. Expected to have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing in the various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective actions. While on a project, the Project Engineer reports to the Business Developer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Leading the product development process with strong support on product development coordination & tracking. Working closely with the supplier through the tooling debug, engineering pilot sample testing/review, final engineering approvals, release to production, and 1st shipment.
2. Ensures that quality guidelines are followed and embedded into the development of the products.
3. Review new product from concept to identify any engineering or design related issues; provides recommendations for engineering debugging and design, as well as offering workable solutions for all manufacturing failures.
4. Obtain and file updated 3D/CAD files from supplier at the go tooling milestone and review the BOM during engineering stage .
5. Evaluate engineering and pre-production samples to confirm that the samples conform to the product specifications, testing requirements, and regulatory standards.

5. Work with vendor to ensure correct understanding of DEU requirements. Sign production samples together with DECO quality department and provide the spec and checking quality criterias.
6 Evaluate manufacturing capability of new suppliers and assist Division visitor for product sample reviews.
7 Travel to suppliers as necessary to ensure engineering debugging is completed successfully and on schedule. Other occasional travels may be necessary.
8 Work with Quality team to identify products in need of improvements, and execute engineering changes throughout product development lifecycle.
9 Work closely with Quality, and Fabric engineer to maximize product development speed.
10 Provide technical support from engineering to mass production, recommendations for engineering design and tooling, as well as offering workable solutions for all manufacturing failures.

JOB REQUIEMENT

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

1. University Graduate in Mechanical Engineering or related fields required.
2. Minimum 3 years working experience in relevant industrial field. Experience in any of the Juvenile product manufacturing fields is preferred.

3. Sound knowledge of textile and sewing production.
4. Experience in project management, problem solving, and design troubleshooting. Must have strong analytical skills.


SKILLS:

1. Computer 2D & 3D design skills preferred (Pro-E, Solid Works, AutoCAD), Microsoft Office skills required.
2. Ability to manage many projects simultaneously and in a timely manner.
3. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
4. Ability to implement product concept, with good understanding of mechanical structure design, manufacturing definition and regulatory standards.
5. Excellent communication skills required.
6. Good command of both spoken and written English is a MUST.
7. Ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines. Applicant must work well in both a team environment and independently.
