As a member of the Ethical Trade Solutions Team for China and the Far East, this role seeks to improve the performance of Primark’s supply chain in the region through remediation and project engagement with suppliers with reference to the Primark Supplier Code of Conduct and local law and regulation.

The ETE will contribute to the team’s work to improve social compliance in supplier factories both through regular trainings and assistance to factories during the on-boarding process, as well as through overseeing larger projects to address systemic issues in the supply chain. Responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities/Key Tasks

•  Providing day-to-day management of various projects designed to improve working conditions in the supply chain. 
• Overseeing external service providers to assure that the technical aspects of projects are implemented according to Primark requirements. 
• Supporting the preparation, delivery and evaluation of training, whether delivered in-house or through third parties. Actively suggest improvements building on lessons learned.
• Ensuring that project & remediation activities, e.g. surveys, trainings, worker & management engagement, etc. are delivered at the highest possible quality.

• Raising awareness among suppliers and factory managers of the importance of Ethical Trade and how to implement its standards.

• Contributing to the new factory approval process in the region through trainings and factory engagement. May be asked occasionally to conduct routine social compliance audits.

• Supporting remediation of Code noncompliance through the on-going work of the Solutions Team, including remote (telephone) consultation with factories, and delivering trainings in the Primark Shanghai office and at factory sites, as well as on-line.

• Keeping up-to-date with changes in the legal framework that governs Ethical Trade in the region.

• Managing and analysing data related to the role.

• Updating Primark systems and databases as required.

• Encouraging cross-team and cross-functional interaction.

• Managing and strengthening stakeholder relationships.

• Proactively reporting on risks to the business.

• Representing the business in meetings and forums, as required.

• Providing the business with information regarding ethical trade in the region, including case studies and information related to NGOs, media campaigns, and other ad-hoc requirements.

Knowledge & Experience

• A minimum of three years’ work in CSR and/or ethical trade at the factory level
• Experience with factory audits, remediation & training 
• Excellent organisational/communication skills
• The ability to build constructive relationships with key stakeholders & across the business
• IT literate (database, spreadsheets)

• Ensures the integrity of the audit management and remediation systems and databases relevant to countries in scope.
• Facilitates availability of approved factories to Primark.
