As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will be part of the Robotics & Discrete Automation Business and Robotics Business Line (BL), based in Shanghai. ABB is the World leader in Robotics & Discrete Automation Business offering a wide range of products and services including drives, motors, generators and robots. Key applications include energy conversion, actuation, automation, standardized manufacturing cells for applications such as machine tending, welding, cutting, painting, finishing, palletizing and packing, and engineered systems for the automotive industry.

You will contribute significantly to successful results in projects in Robot Supply Unit (SU) Product Group/ Robotics Business Line (BL)/ Robotics & Discrete Automation Business in Shanghai /China country/NAS region.

- Responsible for robot prototype verification and validation during robot development phase, including but not limited to mechanical test, system integration test.
- Responsible for the validation of the life time of the mechanical parts, analyze reliability of the robot, especially the key components including motor, gear, bearing, sealing, cablings etc. Analyze their performance comparing the life time, failure mode, etc.
- Design and develop the corresponding test solution and test kit to verify the performance and reliability as well as the whole robot system working with design engineer to find the potential risk in original design.
- With analytical skills to analyze and find unreliable test results, also provide the correction action and solution. Responsible for analysis of result and test reports.

- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience in Mechanical Research and design, preferably for motor, gear, sealing, cable etc., especially in the area of lifetime and failure mode analysis.
- Experience in robot or machine tool area is an added advantage.
- Familiar with 3D drawing tool like SolidWorks or similarly tools.
- Strategic thinking and strong problem-solving ability.
- Good at coordinating internal and external resources.
- Team work spirit, collaboration with local and international team.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a project team.
- Fluent in oral and written English.
