Job Summary and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for maintaining a world-class international trade compliance (ITC) program throughout the Emerson Process Management Divisions in China. Its focus is to ensure that Emerson Process Management's business is transacted in compliance with all applicable ITC regulations.

This position requires an energetic, take-charge person with working knowledge of China customs and export regulations. It requires someone who can work with the Business Units and identify key risk areas and recommend process improvements to mitigate these risks. The person will provide technical guidance to the Business Unit ITC personnel to ensure proper implementation of ITC processes, and conduct effective audit programs. Position will interface with import/export coordinators and corporate management. Additional responsibilities include:

? Assist Business Units in developing and implementing processes, procedures, and systems that ensure compliance to Corporate and Group-level procedures and systems.
? Serve as technical resource to Emerson Process Management Business Units: Interpret relevant customs and export control regulations and provide guidance to Business Units accordingly.
? Assist in driving Emerson Process Management ITC strategic plan and key initiatives in China.
? Assist Business Unit ITC personnel on resolving key issues.
? Develop and deliver relevant training, through a variety of formats.
? Work with Business Units to set up processes and procedures to take advantage of relevant FTAs.
? Provide inputs at Group level with regards to processes and procedures, as well as China-specific requirements on Trade Compliance screening system.

Supervision
Reports to the Director, Logistics and Trade Compliance. Works independently from broad general guidelines, receiving detailed direction for specific initiatives and medium range strategic objectives.

Qualifications
Education Under-graduate degree required.
Experience Three or more years direct import and/or export compliance experience in a major corporation, service company, or law firm.
Subject-matter expertise in relevant areas of trade compliance locally (at least 2 countries in region) and in relevant US export control regulations.
Languages Proficiency in English is a must.

Skills and Abilities
? Proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required, to develop process improvements with the businesses, and to assist the businesses in implementing those improvements.
? Experience in developing and delivering trade compliance training.
? Demonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills, and cross-cultural awareness.
? Detail oriented, possessing good analytical skills and able to anticipate problems.
? A strong team member, able to shift roles as required by the group dynamic (e.g. contributor, facilitator).
? Self-motivated and able to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
? Product familiarity is preferred.

Location
Shanghai; 25% travel.
