Primark Ethical Trade Executive-Project Management - Solution

Key responsibility:
1. Conduct ethical trade assessments when required for purpose of understanding systemic and sectorial issues and identification of project initiatives for supply chain social compliance performance improvements;
2. Work with HQ, suppliers, factories and other relevant stakeholders to identify and define specific project requirements, scopes, objectives and timelines;
3. Coordinate project schedules, resources, equipment and information;
4. Track project progress and present updates to project participants and relevant parties;
5. Evaluate project activities, conduct risk management and report on project progress and final results;
6. Supervise other project staffs and provide advice whenever necessary;
7. Serve as key contact for communication, correspondence and associated documentation;
8. Conduct follow up studies of completed projects to evaluate and monitor results;
9. Provide effective training and technical advice to suppliers and factories in a structural and systemic way as a means to strengthen ethical trade performance in the supply chain;
10. Conduct needs assessment, gap analysis and support factories to establish effective social compliance systems that comply with local legal requirements and customers’ Code of Conduct;
11. Support remediation of existing factories, new factories and T2 factories as deemed necessary by line supervisor;
12. Submit analytical reports with recommendation of remediation in a timely manner;
13. Contribute to regular code of conduct inductions and other supplier and factory capacity building sessions and R&D work of training materials of related subjects;
14. Data and trend analysis as deemed necessary by line supervisor;
15. Audit/assessment/capacity building instruments development or improvement where necessary;
16. Compose reports and presentations as requested by line supervisor;
17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills:
1. Knowledge of and experience in project management and corporate social responsibility
2. Ability of accurately reviewing and completing detail oriented information and projects
3. Self-starter, motivated, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; respectful of deadlines of self and others
4. Excellent presentation and communication skills in Mandarin and English
5. Planning and organizational skills essential
6. A high level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality

Key Tasks:
1 Contributes to the implementation of Primark’s Ethical Strategy for its suppliers and factories in China
2 Provides insight, advice and solutions direct from the supply base
3 Helps to communicate the company’s ethical trading requirements throughout the supply base
4 Raises awareness about the importance of ethical trading and how to approach it.
5 Monitors working conditions in new and existing factories as required
6 Uses appropriate processes as required (eg. Audit, spotcheck)
7 Contributes to new factory approval process in China as required
8 Remediation of Code non-compliances with factories and suppliers as required
9 Produces reports and communicates results in a timely fashion
10 Understands the legal frameworks that apply to Ethical Trade
11 Manages and analyses data relating to the role
12 Updates Primark systems and databases as required by role
13 Encourages cross-team and cross functional interaction
14 Provides support to suppliers, factories and workers to support them through the approval process and thereafter
15 Builds relationships that enable sharing best practices and improvements.
16 Manages stakeholder relationships as required.
17 Proactively reports on risks to the business.
18 Represents the business in meetings and forums as required.
19 Contributes as instructed by ETM to projects aimed at improving worker welfare as required
20 Provides the business with information regarding ethical trading in the region, including case studies and information relating to NGO, media campaigns and other ad-hoc requests
21 Engages in Primark ET Projects as required

Knowledge & Experience:
1 Experience in CR and ET and the factory environment
2 Factory audit and remediation processes (e.g. SMETA, SA8000 advanced)
3 Excellent organisation/communication skills
4 A self starter who is results driven in a fast paced environment
5 The ability to build excellent relationships with key stakeholders & across the business
6 IT literate (database, spreadsheets)

2 Able to cope with the diversity of cultures across the Primark ET Field Team

2 Acts as the interface between supplier, factory, worker, buyer and other stakeholders to support the business.

1 Ensures integrity of audit management system and database as relevant to countries in scope
2 Ensures availability of ethically approved factories to Primark as relevant to countries in scope

5 Works effectively and manages cost

Contacts & Communication:
1 Ethical Trade Teams in SEA, India, Bangladesh, Turkey and the UK
2 As required, buying and sourcing departments in UK and Ireland
3 Database team in Peterborough
4 ET Controllers (Projects, Comms, E***ironment etc)
5 Proficient in English, written and spoken
