Role Purpose
To develop, implement and maintain a commercial framework that will maintain or reduce costs, mitigate risk and improve the profitability of the group businesses.
This is a demanding role that requires an experiencedcapable individual who can improve the commercial capability of the Arran Isle Sourcing Centre in Ningbo.
Reporting to
Head of Group Sourcing
Role details
1.Ownership of day to day commercial relationships with specified existing and new suppliers.
2.To facilitate commercial negotiations on behalf of group businesses and key stakeholders who maintain ownership of the final decision making.
3.Translating for senior stakeholders during high level commercial meetings with key suppliers.
4.Implement and maintain supplier contracts, trading agreements, pricing mechanisms and develop supplier evaluations and propose supplier strategy recommendations.
5.Build and maintain effective relationships with all project stakeholders to establish a common agreed proposition. Closely liaise with Suppliers, Engineers, Product Managers, Buyers and other key stakeholders to ensure adherence to the strategy and smooth implementation.
6.Project managing new product introductions working closely with quality engineers, using recognised project management methodology and processes.
7.To manage and control the variables of each project entirely to ensure that agreed timescales and cost savings are adhered. To manage any / all risks associated with each project and follow each project through to implementation.
8.To assess projects, post implementation and continue annual benchmarking exercises on ranges to ensure that the competitive level of the supplier is understood by all parties.
9.To proactively identify and assess alternative suppliers in accordance with the needs of the business and negotiate commercial terms.
10.Identify opportunities to reduce cost and support the overall sourcing strategy.
11.To carry out regular price benchmarking and support the group business by providing detailed pricing analysis following quotation requests.
12.To manage, support and develop one direct report (Commercial Merchandiser).
13. Negotiate compensation and replacements of products at times when quality issues or other problems arise.
Skills and Experience
1.Exceptional English language skills, educated to degree level both verbally and written.
2.Background in product sourcing with previous work experience with an international company.
(Experience of sourcing door and window hardware preferred).
3.Ability to demonstrate good project management skills.
4.Must be a strong communicator who can confidently manage situations with stakeholders of all levels.
5.Experienced facilitator of senior groups and meetings.
6. Commercially astute with a proven track record of cost control and price reduction.
7.Numerate, able to fully understand, interpret and utilise financial information.
8. Ability to work cross functionally and recognise the impact of own actions on others.
9. Knowledge of supply chain and awareness of global trading principles.
