Job Summary Statement:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing new product development projects from inception to commercialization. They will also be responsible for detailing the technical execution of said development projects through product launch. They will provide technical support to Product Development. Lead and coordinate the development of assigned Igloo projects to ensure that the product arrives on time, on cost, on budget and with the requirements and expectations defined. Ideal candidates should be able to switch focus on projects/tasks with sensitivity to product launch and highest impact to critical path. Effective time and task management are an absolute must. The Project Engineer will work on both Igloo and Cool Gear product lines.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
? Lead and coordinate the development of assigned Igloo projects to ensure that the product arrives on time and on budget
? Track and coordinate a project team’s progress against tollgates and phase requirements.
? Develop and maintain project timelines and schedules as required
? Build relationships and work closely with designers, marketing and operations team partners to define project requirements, delivery expectations and work closely to support their efforts.
? Develop specifications, protocols, and quality reviews with Operations QA as required.
? Ensure that the product functions properly in the manner for which it was intended. Provide engineering inputs and develop working solutions to meet functional requirements
? Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
? Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
? Develop product and tooling costs with Finance and Operations.
? Work with CAD department to develop product drawings. Review the CAD from the US team (2D & 3D) to get a complete understanding of the project
? Present the CAD to the factories with explanations and details
? Manage the CAD and revisions with the factories
? Supply technical information to the Model Shop to develop engineering test models
? Interface and communicate effectively with external suppliers of components, molds, and entire products and manage the successful completion of new product tooling programs to meet clear objectives
? Utilize all experience, process, and materials knowledge to insure that no released product engineering package has latent design defects
? Point person for any tooling/part modifications and reporting to and from US/Asia
? Report daily to their Engineering counterpart in the US with status updates
? Review tooling drawings and track the status of all tools being cut
? Track the status of all key Asia milestones
? Manage and work closely with outside partners and suppliers on timely development necessary for product launch
? Drive and support outsourced projects as directed. Support the Product Development, R & D, Industrial Designers and Productivity teams to develop detailed product specifications and product designs
? Work with Compliance to develop compliance/regulatory plans
? Perform product design and safety reviews
? Executive productionization plans with external suppliers
? Coordinate product qualification plans and monitor qualification efforts with both internal and external test labs
? Oversee manufacturing reviews
? Ensure all appropriate documentation is archived per company requirements
? Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

? Bachelor of Science (BS) in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
? 10 - 15 years’ experience in project management of consumer products. Demonstrated experience in the project management critical competencies described above is required.
? 10 - 15 years of technical experience in plastics engineering including material knowledge, manufacturing processes, design best practices, cost analysis and process qualification required. Hands on experience in a plastics molding room environment (injection and blow molding) required. Additional experience in other materials and processes preferred but not required.
? Knowledge of various testing methods related to plastics and materials.
? Knowledge of DOE (Design of Experiments) preferred but not required.
? Experience with metal mechanic processes and materials.
? Experience with plastic molds, and tools construction.
? Cost analysis experience.
? Knowledge of Oracle or related software.
? Excellent creativity, innovation, and problem solving abilities; a solutions oriented individual!
? Outstanding communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of management.
? Strong Microsoft Office expertise including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access. Experience with project management databases desired; experience with CAD, Pro-engineer, SolidWorks, Moldflow helpful
? Mechanically inclined with excellent visualization skills.
? Highly flexible and able to react quickly to changing project requirements.
? Up to 50% travel
