POSITION
OBJECTIVE:
The Production Engineer Jewelry promotes brand
alignment, targeted and speedy product development, cost engineering, and Right
First Time best manufacturing practices. The Production Engineer is the
vendor's main point of contact for technical support. The Production Engineer
contributes to the vendors' ability to provide brand right merchandise
on schedule and at economically advantageous cost.
FUNCTIONAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Production Engineer Jewelry is the main
point of contact to our vendor/factories for technical support
Travels to the factories approximately 80% of
their time
Creates better brand alignment
Provides technical guidance
Ensures complete understanding of brand
expectations
Assists factories to provide more approvable
samples
Assists in cost engineering
Promotes thorough preproduction activities
Promotes Right First Time manufacturing best
practices
Performs Factory Technical Evaluations
Applies 3rd party resources for quality
inspections
Responsible
for on-boarding new suppliers and manufacturers
Partners directly with NSSC cross function
teams
Apply
methods analysis and manufacturing engineering
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or a
related field
·
7+ years experience in domestic and international
jewelry production engineering
·
Proven experience in interacting effectively with
all internal and external partners
·
Ability to analyze and evaluate manufacturing
environments and generate CAPs.
·
Extensive knowledge of best practices and methods
for supplier qualification, selection, and relationship management
·
Working knowledge of "lean manufacturing", Right
First Time practices, and industrial engineering
·
Knowledge of jewelry fabrication, construction,
testing, and lab procedures
·
Ability to work with minimal supervision
·
Good time management skills
·
Good written and verbal communications skills
·
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
·
Ability for extensive domestic and international
travel
·
Fluent in English

current and future areas of manufacturing as needed
Travel to
component markets for awareness and knowledge, and report back to jewelry team
with findings
Maintain
awareness of trends by traveling to selected fashion/styling shows
Travel to Chico's FAS, Inc headquarters
2-4 times a year for calibration, alignment, and relationship building with
cross functional partners
Travel to Chico's ATSO for meetings,
product reviews, and as required
Travel with Chico's FAS USA teams when
they visit the region
Mentors
vendors in engineering, methods, time study analysis, creating a better work
environment, compliance to protocols, and packaging requirements
Understand and
report to FAS on current vendor strengths and weaknesses
Report on
trends in manufacturing, shifts in location, what is next?
Help create
and perform factory technical evaluations
Establish and
implement formats and protocols for prescreening and evaluating samples
In future
state, be able to approve product
Provide
guidance to factories for PP samples and PP meetings.
Promote the
mandatory use of standards and construction guidelines
Maintain
communications with factories and suppliers
Promote the
use of pilots and 1st production evaluation
Train
suppliers and 3rd party agencies on in-line audits and final inspections
Educate the
suppliers on proper use of AQL and OQL processes
Work to a
level of GI level II
Promote and
maintain complete and proper documentation of all activities
Utilize all Chico's FAS, Inc. IT
systems to support accuracy and more efficient operations
Ensure
compliance to FTE and FRI reporting
When factories
fail to perform as expected, promote, approve, and maintain awareness of
Corrective Action Plans
CAPs will
include root cause analysis, development of corrective action plan, approval of
the plan, monitoring the progress of the plan, and agreement on the completion
of the plan.
Evaluate
product damages and return data with manufacturers to insure vendors and
factories develop proper manufacturing practices (SOP) and CAPs.
Maintain data
in support of Vendor Scorecards measuring OQL performance, shipping
fulfillment, store returns, and on time delivery.
Orientation;
Training and
orientation for approximately 2 weeks in NSSC. Meet all jewelry team members in
technical, merchandising, production and sourcing, etc. and spend time getting
to know them and their roles.
Meet key
company officers relative to the jewelry business up to and including brand
president.
Become
educated in the culture of our brands, the cadence of our calendar, and the
processes we follow.
Attend key
meetings for development, approvals, product reviews, line-turnover, etc.
Meet with all
cross functional team members who will help support the business such as
Technical Design, Fabric and Raw Materials (they own testing), Production and
Sourcing, and Sourcing Operations.
Attend
training with the Sourcing Operations Team on quality processes and
maintenance, score carding, data collection, manufacturing support, testing,
etc.
Visit multiple
stores for all brands in order to understand our customer, our product, and how
we relate to the customer's desires.
