Job Description
Occupational Summary:

The project director will serve as the key personnel managing the University’s campus planning and partnering with the city’s designated project owner on meeting the academic and student needs of the University campus. The incumbent will be leading the project team and supplementing it with consultants on project programming, planning, design and construction. The incumbent will work extensively with the University community on understanding their objectives and space needs and to ensure that the new building plans are addressing these needs in an integrated and cost effective manner. The incumbent will maintain excellent communication with the city project partners as he or she advocates the University’s requirements. He/she will monitor the projects’ progress and quality, report on progress, address issues, and provide advice on various aspects of the project to management.

The Chief Business Officer (CBO)

Essential Duties:
The Campus Project Director will be responsible for partnering with the city project partners on managing the entire lifecycle of campus building development, from planning to construction and commissioning. These responsibilities will principally include the following:
- Provide oversight and guidance for design and construction of new facilities, and uphold the University’s quality standards. Provide written and verbal reports to the University management and to the project partner.
- Establish a project management process that will ensure that design and value engineering decisions are supported with appropriate analyses and documentation and changes are carried out in a controlled manner.
- Report on items that may be problematic, identify the advantages and disadvantages of different solutions, and obtain sign-off on the proposed resolutions.
- Maintain and coordinate independent testing and scheduling to confirm adherence to quality and schedule constraints.
- Maintain open communication with Kunshan partner consultants and contractors to ensure proper design and construction coordination of campus building projects.
- Walk the construction sites regularly to identify improvement areas and to ensure that the city project owner are addressing quality and safety issues.
- Manage and coordinate the campus project team and vendors on on-time delivery, installation, and commissioning of key building systems.

Qualification:
- A university degree in architecture, in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering or in a related discipline. Master’s preferred.
- 15+ years of work experience in project management or construction management.
- Documented project management experience for multiple high-standard projects.
- Several years of work experience in a foreign firm or in education projects is preferred.
- Excellent communication in Mandarin and English.
- Ability to partnering with others in completing projects on time and within budget.
