Summary This position designs, validates and ensures designs are manufacturable, cost effective and meets all internal and external targets. This job acts as a point of contact with customer engineering, thus coordinating customer specifications, design, testing and prototype activities. Lastly, this position leads the product development team including CAD/CAE/Validation and interface with cross functional teams to fulfill Gate requirements and Program Development cycles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
? Coordinate development process with customer engineering team (25%)
? Checking and release of math models and drawings (20%)
? Creation and management of design workload on program
? Represent product development department in project core team meetings and distribute tasks and information from the project to the development team.
? Manage test scheduling and part delivery with customer timeline
? Provide engineering feedback to other departments on potential changes
? Manage D&D work per program budget
? Creation and release of prototype work orders
? Maintain key development APQP documents
? Other duties as assigned
? Be a part of building up local commercial vehicle development know how and best practice merging input from Chinese market with best practice within Ebersp?cher.

Authority and Responsibility:
? General and design detailed decisions that impact cost, weight, manufacturing and function of the components, subsystems and assemblies
? Design decisions during development phase in regards to functional objectives and target setting
? Responsible over final release of technical drawings and math models
? Decisions in RFQ’ phase regarding design and BOM content at an appropriate level of fidelity and risk to support RFQ quoting process
? Approval of prototype content variation
? Prioritize design work within assigned project
? Approve supplier and plant deviations

Education and/or Experience
Minimum B.S. in engineering field. Minimum five years in automotive engineering role.
Experience from commercial vehicle component development either at supplier or OEM is necessary.
Experience from exhaust businesses within commercial vehicle is desirable.
Language Skills
Good English, both written and spoken is a requirement.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents and procedures. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply mathematical concepts and operations. – take away?

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferably some knowledge in CAD tools and PDM tools.
