Education:
University or College Engineering Degree, Technician and/or Technologist Diploma, or equivalent experience in Automotive Product Design.

Experience:
3 years of product design & development experience

Skills:
3D modeling & design capabilities (Catia V5 and/or NX experience required)
GD&T & Tolerance Stacks

Job Responsibilities:

General:
To transfer ideas into graphical representation and improve product design and innovation through use of multiple analytical practices.

Job Description:
- To create & revise 3D data and drawings per engineering changes
- Ability to innovate and create new ideas for new vehicle packaging investigations
- Create design improvement actions through theoretical evaluation of designs
- Collaborate and work with cross functional teams to create value within the company through product designs
- Revise parts drawings per engineering change procedure in Q.A. manual
- Check drawings for accuracy for other designers
- Tolerance stack-ups
- Interference/fit of mating parts
- Develop and generate design ideas and/or guidelines for product in accordance with SDS and ES test requirements.
- Ensure product is designed and validated according to SDS and ES test requirements.
- Design product for ease of manufacture, low cost, high quality and reduced failure modes.
- Works with Product Engineers to communicate and discuss the design strategy, review CAD drawings, and to make decisions on design direction.
- Participate in design reviews with other company disciplines and ensure design direction meets both product design and manufacturing needs/requirements.
- Complete mathematical calculations involving spring design, stress analysis, ratios, gear reductions, tolerance stack-ups, etc.
- Analyze and review FEA’s to ensure proper constraints and modify/optimize the design based on the results.
- Develop and perform tests to validate theoretical stack-up analysis.
- Review and sign-off prints to ensure tolerance limits meet the product requirement expectations.
- Review prints to ensure key characteristics are identified with proper call-outs to communicate that a feature is critical and/or high impact to product requirements.
- Participate in build-up and assembly of product during prototype build events.
- Review GD&T to ensure prints are appropriate for both product and gauge design purposes.
- Participate in gauge reviews with gauge manufacturer to ensure quality gauge design. (i.e. meets the intent of print, variable vs. attribute, proper clamping, etc)

Miscellaneous Requirements:

- Fluency in English is required.
- Work closely with and support local KSR China Program Manager and design team.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Participate in competitive product benchmarking activities including researching technological trends across other products and industries.
- Support MCR (Material Cost Reduction) activities both internally and externally.
- Intellectual property and patent research/investigation/tracking/collection and creation.
- Complete R&D reports for responsible projects on annual basis.
- Support internal meetings such as design review meetings and APQP meetings. 举报 分享
