Job Title: Senior Project Officer _ Education

Child Safeguarding Level: Level 3

Job Purpose:

To plan, implement, develop and monitor the Basic Education Project, with the support from Shanghai Education Project Manager and local partners per agreed strategies and policies. Report to: Shanghai Education Project Manager，Contract length: 2 years

Key Accountabilities:

· Take the lead on the implementation of Basic Education project activities, contributing to project designing, planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation;

· Develop and maintain good relationships with various partners for the smooth running and implementation of the project;

· Provide technical support for project partners and monitor the progress of the project through regular project site visits;

· Develop Basic Education project models, training curriculum and teaching material;

· To keep work plans up to date and monitor the progress of the project(s) through regular project site visits according to the M&E plans;

· Being responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of Basic Education Trainings, workshops, conferences etc.;

· Support project schools and community to establish child rights and child participation awareness within the projects;

· Prepare for project budgets, financial reports and forecasts and in monitoring and strengthening financial accountability at project management level;

· To be able to produce high quality donor reports and funding proposals;

· To deputize in absence of the Education Project Manager;

· Keep abreast of current policy and best practices regarding Basic Education at global, national and district level;

· To support on the communications needs of the organization, helping with reports and case studies, newsletter that will support fundraising or other needs;

· To provide necessary support to other components within the whole education project when required.

Qualifications and Experience:

· A professional qualification at graduate level. e.g. education, psychology, public administration, or social work;

· A minimum of five-year work experience in related field, e.g. education projects, preferably working experience in INGOs;

· Experience in project monitoring and evaluation, data collection and analysis;

· Have a good understanding on children’s literacy boosts, social emotional learning and school health and nutrition, especially for children at school age;

· Ability to effectively communicate with people from different backgrounds;

· Excellent professional and personal communication skills, and analytical skills;

· Good report writing skills in Chinese and English;

· An energetic and proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and co-operatively within a team setting;

· A flexible approach to work with good time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines;

· Able to carry out all appointed work in a non-political and non-discriminatory manner;

· Willing and be able to travel and regularly to project sites and within China or outside of China;

· Fluent in using English and Mandarin both in spoken and in written;

· Experienced in working with children at pre-school age;

· Ability to operate within a predominantly administratively self-servicing environment;

· An understanding of and commitment to, the aims of SC as an organization working for social change and active in the promotion of the rights of the child;

· A commitment to support for cross-organizational initiatives and to team working and understanding of how to contribute to this.

Child safeguarding level 3:

The responsibilities of the post require you to work directly with children or young people, individually or in groups.
