Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) Company is the wholly owned subsidiary of Volvo Group, one of the World Top 500 companies. As the third biggest construction equipment manufacturer in the world, headquarter of Volvo CE is located in Brussels, Belgium. VCE specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing mechanical equipment related with construction, with a product range including backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, excavators, articulated haulers, motor graders and compact equipment. In 2010, to better meet the needs of emerging market customers, Volvo Construction Equipment invested nearly 300 million SEK in the Tech Center in Jinan.

Volvo Construction Equipment Jinan Tech Center will focus on R&D of construction equipment and components for emerging markets. One of the priorities for the tech center is to build a strong R&D team comprising both local and foreign talent to bring new products to market. Now we are looking for talent for the below position for our Technology Centre.

Position Title: Product Platform Engineer(产品平台工程师)

Location: Jinan(济南)

Job Summary ( Purpose of Job ) :

In the running daily work act as product owner and specialist for complete machine and secure quality, cost and functionality in all product development phases for these specific products. This includes, among other things, to specify product targets, select concepts, develop new functionality and specify sub system requirements to meet product targets also including verification and validation of complete machine.

Roles of Job

1. Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities:

· Secure the functional performance of the complete machine

· Integration of sub systems to secure the right machine functionality

· Performance calculations complete machine

· Functional & physical requirement setting at sub system level

· Concept evaluation and rapid prototyping of new machine functionality and sub systems

· Secure the physical layout, interfaces and packing of the complete machine

· Ownership of the Digital Mock-up for complete machine

· Concept studies regarding packing, physical layout and styling

· Product quality and cost control

· Act as the new product owner and specialist in PPD projects

· Specify Verification & Validation activities to meet product targets

· Product knowledge – Wheel Loader, Excavator, Grader and their different sub systems

· Designer competences – Generalist in several technical areas

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:

· Master of science in engineering or equivalent experience

· High knowledge on related new products and its subsystems (engine, transmission, hydraulics, lifting units, CAB, electronics & SW functionality and how these sub system should work together)

· Experience and/or willingness to operate machine to be able to evaluate machine functionality

· High knowledge on related new products and its mechanical/physical requirements and demands

· Self-motivated and able to manage time and prioritize work load

· Project management, GDP and Early phases experiences

· High knowledge on related new products

· Customer focused and good analytical skills to understand the true need of customers

· Good communication skills

Additional Important Requirements (e.g. language, mobility):

· Spoken and written English

volvo construction equipment technology (china) is located in high-tech zone of jinan, shandong. volvo construction equipment jinan tech center will focus on r&d of construction equipment and components for emerging markets. it will be the first volvo construction equipment tech center in china, and the first tech center in jinan established by a world top 500 enterprise. volvo construction equipment tech center in jinan will undoubtedly play an important role in volvo construction equipment’s global r&d network, pushing volvo construction equipment’s strategic development and upgrading in china.
