Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) Company is the wholly owned subsidiary of Volvo Group, one of the World Top 500 companies. As the third biggest construction equipment manufacturer in the world, headquarter of Volvo CE is located in Brussels, Belgium. VCE specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing mechanical equipment related with construction, with a product range including backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, excavators, articulated haulers, motor graders and compact equipment. In 2010, to better meet the needs of emerging market customers, Volvo Construction Equipment invested nearly 300 million SEK in the Tech Center in Jinan.

Volvo Construction Equipment Jinan Tech Center will focus on R&D of construction equipment and components for emerging markets. One of the priorities for the tech center is to build a strong R&D team comprising both local and foreign talent to bring new products to market. Now we are looking for talent for the below position for our Technology Centre.

Position Title: Technical Design Engineer(技术研发工程师)

Location: Jinan(济南)

Job Summary ( Purpose of Job ) :

Develop the components for construction equipment such as frames and lifting units, hydraulic system, driveline system, engine installation, electrical & electronics system for wheel loaders, Excavators and graders and compaction equipment.

The developments are made in projects with close cooperation with both other departments, suppliers and own production which means a lot of contacts within the company as well as outside including international contacts.

Roles of Job

1. Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities:

· Responsible for structure, hydraulic, driveline, Electrical & Electronics, Engine and Cab design with regards to functionality, cost and quality

· Design parts and components using 3D Cad (Catia, Solid Edge)

· Build part structures in PDM-system

· Participate in development projects reaching targets on both time and cost

· Cooperate with production and supplies to make sure the production is reliable and cost effective

2. Key Skills

· Product knowledge on one or some of the functional areas: Structure&Frame, Hydraulic, Driveline, Electrical & Electronics, Engine design

· Designer competences –Structural, Hydraulic, Driveline, Electrical & Electronics, Engine design

· Designer tools (Mechanical design)

· Production technology

· Knowledge of products

· Team player

· Environmental, safety and legal requirements on our operations

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:

· Experience in new product development

· CAD, preferable Catia.

· Broad interest in technology, especially within the area of heavy vehicles

· Experience dealing with design and development problems and strong intuitive and analytic ability to resolve problem

· Open positive attitude, target oriented, flexible and enjoy working both independently and in groups in an outgoing and communicative way

· Accustomed to working in projects

· M.Sc. in engineering or equivalent

Additional Important Requirements (e.g. language, mobility):

· Spoken and written English

volvo construction equipment technology (china) is located in high-tech zone of jinan, shandong. volvo construction equipment jinan tech center will focus on r&d of construction equipment and components for emerging markets. it will be the first volvo construction equipment tech center in china, and the first tech center in jinan established by a world top 500 enterprise. volvo construction equipment tech center in jinan will undoubtedly play an important role in volvo construction equipment’s global r&d network, pushing volvo construction equipment’s strategic development and upgrading in china.
