职位描述:

PURPOSE

        The Reliability Engineer will ensure effective and efficient service contract operation, principally through providing engineering and reliability support with the objective of improving overall equipment reliability, availability and capability. The person is responsible for managing and driving all Performance Plus contract related tasks and day to day activities based at assigned customer site.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
  • Understand contractual requirements with respect to reliability, inventory management, and service delivery and implement plans to meet the requirements.
  • Be first point of contact for all customer mechanical seal needs and also provide out of hours service and support, where necessary.
  • Be an interface between customer and JC organisation and coordinate with appropriate internal departments to deliver suitable customer outcomes
  • Be responsible for reliability data management, trending, analysis and reporting. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct site tours, identify preventive activities and implement recommendations proactively to eliminate potential causes of seal failures.
  • Gain understanding of systematic and chronic failures and develop plan accordingly to eliminate root cause of failures.
  • Perform root cause analysis, failure mode assessment and provide recommendations to improve reliability.
  • Maintain the equipment & seal database and failure history using John Crane Interface Reliability Management software for all equipment within the scope of the contract.
  • Understand customers’ needs, review installations, make engineering proposals to optimise arrangements, quantify benefits, prepare and present proposals.
  • Handle stock management, rationalise stock levels, optimise stock to ensure availability and control costs.
  • Conduct internal and external training needs analysis, develop training plans and provide training to customer personnel on various topics relating to operation, maintenance, selection and specification of rotating equipment and mechanical seals
  • Be integral part of client’s in-house team of reliability engineers, maintenance supervisors, area managers and develop intimate knowledge of people, processes, procedures and drivers.
  • To be present during equipment overhaul and commissioning and where applicable assist in the disassembly and assembly of mechanical seals, provide detailed subsequent analysis, assessments and recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KPIS
  • Efforts in improving the reliability performance (MTBF,MTBR,MTBC Etc) w.r.to contract deliverables
  • Stock control within the JC store (this includes stock issue, control of stock levels, reconditioning and reordering of stock)
  • Communication with all stakeholders involved in the Alliance contract.
  • Maintain equipment database (interface) and prepare reports
  • Develop new business opportunities for JC products
  • Work towards reducing the COS for the alliance contract
REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Operationally Reports to the local manager
  • Functionally reports to Regional Reliability Manager
  • Working closely with the Internal Sales and Service Team
  • Regular collaboration with internal and external Reliability Engineers
OCCUPATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY DUTIES:
  • Cares for the environmental, health and safety of self and others.
  • Follows workplace procedures and instructions at all times.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, and facilities to make sure of safe performance and good OHS practice.
  • Identifies and reports unsafe, unhealthy or hazardous working conditions.
  • Uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Does not engage in practical jokes that could harm the health or safety of another person.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma with minimum of 2-5 years relevant experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience with mechanical seals, rotating equipment
  • Working knowledge of process plant operations and maintenance is desired
  • Engineering knowledge in a proactive reliability environment
  • Strong knowledge of personal computers, MS Office, and machining practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends as needed to meet business demands.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-stress environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication.
  • Excellent training, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Current driver’s license.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
  • Contributes to completion of routine technical tasks.  Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs.
SCOPE
  • Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
