职位描述

I. POSITION PURPOSE and ACCOUNTABILITY:
The NPI Purchasing Lead represents the Purchasing Function on new product development projects for products developed / engineered / manufactured at his facility.
The NPI Purchasing Lead is the driver of the sourcing process on new product developments.
Primary details include:
? Coordinate plant-based NPI Buyers (where available) and ECO Analysts (where available) who have responsibilities at the product, system or site level for NPI Purchasing. NPI Buyers will focus on supplier selection and achieving target costs; ECO Analysts will focus on processing Engineering Change Orders. Where no dedicated NPI Buyers are available at the site, the NPI Purchasing Lead will coordinate Commodity Buyers throughout AMPIP and along the NPI sourcing process in collaboration with Site Purchasing Managers.
? Act as Purchasing Project Manager on new development projects offering a first point of contact for all purchasing issues to Platform Lead Engineers and other Functions. The NPI Purchasing Lead is part of the Core team according to AMPIP 2.1.
? Provide information to the Global NPI/Adv. Purchasing Organization in order to facilitate the cross-site exchange of data and transparency on local site sourcing needs.
? Support target costs setting and agreement on new product components in his plant and provide all necessary activity to meet target costs while adhering to the commodity strategies as established by the Global Commodity Managers/Directors and approved by Regional Vice Presidents, Purchasing. Track and report overall cost (actual vs. target).
? Use global processes and tools to support Purchasing, Engineering and Product Management goals (including consistent use of Preferred Supplier Lists, global sourcing process, AMPIP process, etc.).
? Manage NPI purchasing project plans for each new product at his plant. Plans and tracks RfX activity according to project needs and against design releases from Engineering.
? Support Quality on PPAP process by facilitating exchange of information to/from Suppliers. Tracking and reporting PPAP when required.
? Actively participate in key negotiations as decided on a case by case basis by Purchasing Governance.
The NPI Purchasing Lead will be based at a plant, interacting with the local Product Development team. Most likely he will assume a role based on:
? Brands (e.g. Valtra, Massey Ferguson, etc.)
? Product lines (e.g. Combines, Tractors, Hay Equipment, etc.)
? Major projects (e.g. new tractor design XYZ)
? Systems (e.g. Hydraulics, Electronics, etc.)
The NPI Purchasing Lead will interact with numerous functions within the organization, in particular with Engineering. As a result, a strong technical background and aptitude is required. Strong Cross-Functional Thinking, Project Management and Communication Skills are the other key attributes required by this role.
Major areas of accountability are:
? Target Costing
a. Ensure that target costs are consistent with Global Commodity Managers/Directors latest cost arrangements. Support by Supplier Cost Analysis team should be also coordinated.
b. Ensure that target costs are met when new product/application is production ready.
? Component Delivery Project Management
a. Develop master component schedule (list of new components requiring sourcing, timelines for RfX, negotiation, award, prototype deliveries when required, series component deliveries when required, PPAP scheduling when required)
b. Coordinate and manage sourcing of NPI components consistently with global commodity strategy and meeting overall new product cost, quality and schedule.

II. FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE
NPI Purchasing Leads are Purchasing professionals with a good knowledge of General Purchasing Skills. The Core Process requirements for an NPI Purchasing Leads will focus on Strategic Sourcing and New Product Introduction Procurement; Category Management and Commodity Strategy definition will remain the primary responsibility of Commodity Managers. Supplier Management and Risk Management are shared tasks with Commodity Managers.

III. CORE BUSINESS EXPERTISE
NPI Purchasing Lead need to have strengths in Technical Competencies, Cost Structure analysis and Product Knowledge. A technical background (e.g. Engineering training/experience) is required to enable him/her to provide commercial inputs to the Product Development team while understanding the associated technical implications. He/She shall have a knowledge of Cost Structure modelling, but the bulk of the daily activities will lie with the Commodity and/or NPI Buyers and the Supplier Cost Analysis team.
NPI Purchasing Leads need to have good basis of financial analytical skills and business judgment as they represent a commercial voice on the Product Development team. Problem solving skills will be focused on dealing with potential deviations from the agreed upon development costs, quality and timelines. Much of their problem solving will come in the form of helping their team work through issues.

IV. GENERAL LEADERSHIP
NPI Purchasing will be responsible for coordinating NPI Buyers and/or ECO Analysts and/or Commodity Buyers at the site level. Moreover, he/she will be responsible for establishing a leadership position among the Product Development community at the sites in order to influence the Core Team and bring Purchasing’s input on new product development.

V. OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
In addition to the previously described competency proficiency levels, a general overview of the AGCO NPI Purchasing Lead is as follows:
? Ideally 5+ years of experience with some combinations of purchasing and/or purchasing-related role, product development, project management and Engineering; preferably in a manufacturing environment. Previous work with Advanced Purchasing is preferred.
? Effective communication skills to ensure that he/she can convey thoughts/opinions in a cross-functional setting.
? Good English language skills to ensure that communications within the global NPI/Adv. Purchasing network as well as with a global supply base are possible.
? Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite software including Excel, Word and PowerPoint; MS Project experience is beneficial, but not required.
? CPIM or equivalent designation is not required, but shows a level of commitment to the profession.
? Experience with ERP (SAP in particular) systems is a benefit.
? University, College degree is preferred; additional benefits with academic training in engineering or other technical field issues; MBA a plus.

VI. NATURE OF IMPACT
The NPI Purchasing Lead impacts the business primarily along the following dimensions:
? Cost of new products: he/she will influence the cost of new products and features which should ultimately help AGCO’s margin.
? Timing of new product releases: he/she will project manage the sourcing and supply of new product components this impacting the overall time-to-market of new products.
? Development of Purchasing Strategy: by proactively providing information on local project needs and participating in the Global NPI/Adv. Purchasing network, he/she will help the definition and implementation of sound Global Commodity Strategies resulting in significant contribution to AGCO’s margin growth.

VII. AREA OF IMPACT:
The NPI Purchasing Lead will impact the following areas/functions:
? Purchasing: Optimization of Supplier selection and commercial terms at the launch of a new program/product; provision of input for Global Commodity Strategy definition; implementation of Global Commodity Strategy.
? Pricing/Marketing: achievement of target cost enables competitive pricing relative to the market. This will allow for competitive positioning of the products and enable profitable margins.
? Engineering: proactive support to Product Development Engineering.
