As a R&D Engineer - Materials/Manufacturing, you will be part of the Power Grids (PG) Division and High Voltage Products (BU) Business unit, based in Beijing and Xiamen. ABB is World’s No.1 in Power Products Business and the product manufactured becomes the key components to transmit and distribute electricity. The division incorporates ABB’s manufacturing network for Transformers, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Cables and associated equipment. It also offers all the services needed to ensure products’ performance and extend their lifespan.

ABB is seeking a R&D engineer with polymer materials, sealing materials, and/or material processing background, to fulfill the demand of development and order engineering and drive business objectives. His/Her job includes identification, exploration and implementation of technology /product development, common product platforms, product care and order related engineering problems.

- Work as a polymer material/material processing expert to support different power product development.
- Plan and execute R&D projects following the ABB processes and are delivered on time and on budget according to priorities.
- Factory troubleshooting / product care upon request.
- Closely communicate/cooperate with other R&D engineers (technology, factory, and suppliers) locally and globally.
- Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

- Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering, Material Processing, Manufacturing, or M.S.
- 2+ years of relevant experience as a Technical Engineer or similar role in a Global Corporate environment.
- Expertise in Polymeric Materials and Processing, Composite Materials, Sealing Materials, is an advantage.
- Good communication skills and team spirit.
- Self-motivated, innovative, structured and systematic thinking.
- Strong result-driven, high quality and high-speed player.
- Availability to travel internationally as required.
- Fluent in written and oral English (any additional language is a plus).
