As an Architect Application Engineer, you will be part of the Electrification Business and Industrial Solutions Business Line (BL) based in Shanghai. ABB is the world leader in offering the Electrification Products and Systems that provide Building Products, Electrification Solutions, Installation Products, Protection and connection and Medium Voltage Products.

You will lead a team of designers/engineers in Electrification Business and Industrial Solutions Business Line (BL) in Shanghai/China Country/NAS Region. You will oversee diverse engineering projects, delivering high quality, cost effective and timely engineering solutions to customers.

- Responsible for project management, technical architecture design, physical design, technology strategy, managing contractors, and budgets and will play a key role in engaging many parts of the information technology staff and peers to insure a successful rollout of an application solution.
- Manage applications to current IT SLA expectations for uptime, performance and issue resolution.
- Serve as technical expert responsible for the design and implementation of an assigned applications area(s), which supports client and/or business objectives and plans.
- Assist or lead in the definition of systems solutions to functional problems, conforming to established system architecture standards and practices.
- Produce documented application frameworks or architectures.
- Participate in business process evaluation/improvement activities, requirements gathering, system analysis, system design, software / hardware applicability studies and system implementation and executes projects based on these activities.
- Provide input into the technology plan for the IT organization and ensure that plans for their assigned applications integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure.
- Advise management on application and supporting technology purchases and on future projects or environment upgrades / modifications.
- Participate or lead in the analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of information technology solutions for business processes.
- Support, advise, assist guide and resolve problems for client users.
- Work as a business partner with client users to evaluate / improve business processes and arrive at mutual, cost effective solutions.
- Conform to system architecture standards and practices and work with outsourced suppliers as required to keep up to date with enabling technologies.
- Participate in the evaluation/implementation of third party software solutions.
- Recommend alternatives for application portfolio migration that best align with business needs plus optimize maintainability and performance.

- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related area from an accredited College or University.
- 10+ years of experience in IT application development including Enterprise Wide Deployments, Business Integrations and sustaining efforts.
- Expertise in project planning and execution.
- Experience leveraging shared IT services, internal or external, to drive cost effective service delivery.
- Solid experience as a change leader, preferably with experience instituting new, global processes and tools.
- Previous experience establishing internal continuous improvement activities to drive efficiencies, manage/reduce costs, and improve service.
- Proven analytical and problem resolution skills.
- Proficiency in software design and development for web and cloud/SaaS environments in programming languages such as C#, Java, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills that have been leveraged to drive change and successfully deliver significant IT programs.
- Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, technical and non-technical audiences, to convey complex IT information in a clear and concise fashion.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, determine appropriate actions and complete projects with little direction.
