Job DescriptionGeneral Ledger/ Fixed Assets Process Leader
Performance Management
– Set goals for the process, aligning operational process team goals and performance measures with the strategic goals and measures of the ISSC Suzhou, ensuring consistency across the processes
– Performance Measurement
– develop, monitor and evaluate appropriate performance measures for the process team
– manage the performance review process, where actual performance is measured against KPI’s, in coordination with other Process Leaders
– Ensure process is performed efficiently and effectively:
– meet performance goals (as monitored against performance measures)
– Ensure efficient and effective resource utilisation:
– appropriate level of resource
– resource focused on value adding activity
– teams use common technology effectively and efficiently
– ensure cross process efficiency & effectiveness
– ensure economies of scale opportunities are exploited
– monitor and evaluate world class best practice developments
Compliance
– ensuring appropriateness of internal controls built into the process as standard procedures
– Monitor adherence to internal controls & SOX. Initiate operational audits/reviews
– Set operational objectives which reflect quality targets: integrity of accounts and data; complete, accurate and timely information
Implement strategic improvement initiatives within the process
– lead or sponsor projects (BPI’s), cascading responsibility to team members develop agenda for continuous improvement once vision fully operational
Relationship Building
– Develop relationships with key internal customers, partners within the process and with other functions and shared service centres
– Support plant finance
Customer Service and Satisfaction
– Manage customer requirements and expectations
– Maintain Service Level Agreements
– Monitor success in providing defined services and achieving customer satisfaction
– Ensure appropriateness of the measures, redefining Service Level Agreements as appropriate
– Key liaison with external parties at a strategic and operational level
Employee Involvement and Development:
– Provide environment for personal and professional development
– Identify training and development requirements
– Provide monthly ‘One to One’ feedback reviews with staff
– Develop and facilitate effective teams
Participate in the hand over from the local finance department to the ISSC with the Projects/Implementation team for that location and local management for full Oracle implementations
Establish all GL only implementations
Essential functions
A. Cost & Performance Management:
– Annual target setting and delivery against KPI’s (Metrics)
– On time/on budget delivery of strategy
– Review actual team performance against targets (metrics) monthly (minimum).
– Comparison of actual performance to terms of Service Level Agreement
– Manage own profit/ cost centre and advise early of cost over or under runs
– Ensure accuracy and integrity of accounts and information produced in ISSC Suzhou. i.e. checks to ensure only accurate data in transmitted to Corporate Systems
– Charge out rate reduction year over year
B. Customer Service and Satisfaction:
– Overall responsibility for delivery of service improvement to customers
– Leadership of Improvement Agenda reviews
– Update and renegotiate Service Level Agreements
– Monitor customer satisfaction
– Relationship management e.g. by regular customer visits
– Responsible for relationship management with plant finance especially Controller teams
C. People
– Manage resource allocation especially ensuring proper skills sets exist and are maintained within the team e.g. language skills, Oracle set up knowledge, specialist statutory experience etc.
– Productivity improvement year on year of 8%
– Ensure availability of appropriate technology to team by leverage resource from Glasgow - and that team members can maximise its use
– Facilitate issue resolution and query handling
– Employee Involvement and Development:
– Mentor team leaders & members
– Conduct team member goal setting, APEX reviews, calibration, grade setting & merit planning
– Assess and respond to training and development needs
– Facilitate teams
– Recruitment and staff retention annual rate of 80% and 90% of key talent retention
– Absence monitoring & team discipline
D. Quality
– Responsible for securing and maintaining ISSC Suzhou Eaton Business Excellence Award
– Reduce Cycle times in Controllership processes
– Ensure SOX compliance
– Ensure successful internal and external audit reviews

– Controllership Process (General Ledger and Fixed Assets):
– General Accounting
– Period End Close
– Management Reporting development - US GAAP
– Financial Reporting - US GAAP
– Statutory Accounting and Reporting – North Asia local GAAP
– Maintenance of standard chart of accounts
– Accounting for Fixed Assets
– Bank & intercompany reconciliation
– Support all North Asia external audits
– Profit planning and forecasting
F. Responsibility for aligning and maintenance of standard international shared service center GL processes
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)• Professional qualification in financial accounting; 7-10 years of (international) experience in finance/ accounting and auditing within a multinational (manufacturing) company
• Experience and best practice implementation in accounting & reporting within an international (manufacturing) environments
• Ability to operate at a senior level in collaboration with diverse internal and external executives; used to operate and influence effectively in a matrixed international organization
• Knowledge of data processing in respect of financial systems, particularly Oracle
• Proven leadership skills; drive strategic change and build organizational capability
• Demonstrable skill in strategic/vision planning and development of business-critical function
• Excellent working knowledge of the English language
• Excellent communication, presentation, training, coaching & mentoring skills
• Demonstrable continued personal development both technical and behavioral
• Strong cross/multi-cultural background and experience; sensitive to cultural differences
• Excellent knowledge of North Asia (and preferably China) statutory reporting requirements;
• Solid understanding and experience with US GAAP; exposure to Sarbanes Oxley
• Ability to operate and deliver independently without day to day supervision
