Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for assisting in supplier selection, change, measurement & improvement in accordance with Eaton’s Supplier Excellence Manual and Eaton Aerospace’s Supplier Quality Manual. And leading Advanced Product Quality Planning at multiple suppliers and multiple Aerospace programs at Eaton Aerospace Group.
Detailed knowledge of Advanced Production Quality Planning (APQP) process and tools as they pertain to PROLaunch, industry regulatory and customer requirements and assures that all deliverables are clear, robust, effective, and efficient in satisfying all the requirements
Leads/Participates in a cross-functional teams involving the supplier and Eaton functions in order to seek flawless launch utilizing APQP techniques. Acts as a liaison between Product Development. Supply Chain, Program Management, Sales Customer Service and Suppliers.
Drives effective completion of projects and programs ( PROLaunch-NPD as well as continuous improvement projects) across a broad range of the businesses using quantitative methods.
Leads the development and implementation of the Advanced Quality planning tools at the supplier, FMEAs, Process flow Diagrams, Control Plans, Gage plan, Measurement System Analysis Statistical Process Control and 8-D
Has the ability to determine the correct metrics and performance levels for the business.
Has extensive, in-depth knowledge on Six Sigma Methodology and a full range of problem solving tools and methods including advanced statistics & Total Process Control
Assists in the implementation of supplier development activities such as Lean, VA/VE, six sigma, Manufacturing Site Assessment and implements supplier IDEAS programs
In-depth understanding and sound working knowledge of National and International Standards (e.g. ISO / AS / TS) and where applicable other Industry related standards including specific Customer requirements.
Performs on-site supplier Quality System Assessment in order to assess compliance to defined requirements such as AS9100 and Nadcap. Identifies and drives system improvements.
Drives compliance of a standard Aerospace Supplier Quality Manual, including processes, forms, audit procedures and performance measures. Drives AS9100 conformance/certification
Designs/develops tools and techniques for measuring systems and devices
Acts as escalation point for plants on chronic supplier performance issues, assists the supplier with problem solving and root cause analysis in order to eliminate recurrence and works with plant supplier quality on focus supplier or supplier management techniques

Performs fundamental data analysis to determine performance level of suppliers and sets annual improvement targets for suppliers on an operational level. Communicates targets to responsible plant activities as assigned.
Serves as a technical resource to supplier selection activities, including assisting in early stage new program development as well as re-sourcing support
Coordinates Supplier Quarterly Business Reviews. Report, measures and drive improvement of regional supplier performance metrics
Ensures that suppliers maintain quality certification status in WISPER and trains suppliers in WISPER functionality.
Participates in the development and drives the adaptation of a standard Aerospace Supplier Quality Manual, including processes, forms, audit procedures and performance measures
Trains BCC quality resources as necessary to ensure compliance to the Aerospace Supplier Quality Manual
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)Knowledge of basic metrology practices and evaluation techniques such as CMM, hand gages and basic laboratory testing practices. Knowledge of basic problem solving and analysis tools such as Pareto, 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone diagrams, etc. Knowledge of industry specific quality registration schemes. i.e., ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP etc. Knowledge in auditing manufacturing processes for compliance to defined quality requirements. Knowledge in basic statistics.
Education/Experience – Associates degree in a technical field and 3 years experience in manufacturing, quality, purchasing, engineering or Bachelors degree in a technical field. Experience should involve exposure to extrusion, NDT, machining of metals and CNC machining operations such as boring, grinding and broaching. Further experience in welding and plating processes and electronics products would be beneficial.
Preferred Training – APQP, PPAP, SPC, Gage R&R/MSA, Quality auditing, Problem solving,
Recommended Credentials – ASQ certified CQE/CQA, Lead auditor training
Project Management
Fluent in English; both written and oral
Assisting suppliers in the implementation of continuous improvement ideas that may require significant commitment/training and change on the part of the suppliers. Achieving a win/win situation between the supplier and the Eaton user facility. Maintaining focus on the situation when the sense of urgency at the user facility makes it difficult to do so. Conveying to the supplier the sense of urgency required in supplying product to Eaton. Being able to stand up and present the facts whether the fault resides at the supplier or Eaton. For international accounts language and cultural barriers must be overcome. Conflict management, negotiation and resource/time management are key attributes to this position as the candidate manages the agendas of corporate mandates, departmental goals and the product/customer/supplier and operational stakeholders involved in supply chain relationships.
