Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Developing and implementing a comprehensive government relations strategy that promotes Eaton's public policy objective and overall corporate profile in China.

Providing counsel to business leaders on public policy issues and trends that will impact the company or industry and develop and implement strategies to address them.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Identify and prioritize government, industry associations and NGOs with influences on Eaton’s business in China.
Facilitate visits by senior corporate and business executives to government officials and various government sponsored events.
Interaction with key government organizations including the MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), MOFCOM (MINISTRY OF COMMERCE), NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission), US Embassy and other key stakeholders to influence public perceptions, laws and regulations.
Manage government relations consultancy and serve as a liaison between organization and the agency to implement the stakeholder engagement strategy that leverages resources and channels of influence.
Management of trade associations & industry groups to achieve Eaton policy & business objectives.
Development of public policy and regulatory objectives after analysis of the impact of laws and regulations on Eaton’s business in China; Utilization of expertise in government affairs and public relations to help business groups meet their strategic business objectives.
Enhance Eaton's image, identity and relations with communities, educational institutions, elected officials, government agencies, industry leaders, employees and stockholders.
Ensure all government affairs activities are conducted with uncompromising integrity and in accordance with Eaton's Ethical Standards.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
• BA Public Affairs / Communications / Marketing
• 7-10 years public affairs or government experience
• Solid experience in:
° Strategic planning and implementation
° Complex project management
° Business operations
° Budget and resource management
• A strong understanding of China’s political system, stakeholders, and challenges impacting foreign businesses will be an asset. The confidence and ability to build and maintain relations with individuals within relevant government agencies, academia, business, and non-governmental groups is expected.
• Extremely acute business acumen – easily and quickly understands the business needs that must be factored into communications plans and messages.
• Strong analytical skills
• Fundamental understanding of virtually all business specialties including finance, economics, HR and IT.
• Be able to work under pressure. Strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation and team spirit.
