I. POSITION PURPOSE:


This position is created to manage Machining Commodity for AGCO China Operations. The qualified person for this position is responsible to develop supply base which is cable of meeting AGCO quality, capacity and supply chain expectation. The qualified Commodity Manager should be able to meet department targets and be able to work in cross-functional environment with global vision and global corporate objectives. The candidate should have background in multinational companies with extensive knowledge in purchasing, manufacturing and supply chain management. Localization experience in automotive industries or agricultural equipment is a must in order to achieve AGCO China Operations objectives.




II. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY: KEY MEASUREMENT:
· Manage purchasing to complete sourcing activities on a timely basis · On time completion of localization of each tractor model
· Lead his team to the development of suppliers in machining and hardware commodity · Number of commodities with qualified suppliers
· Lead the team in meeting company savings target annually · Savings implementation
· Establish and execute on annual department objectives · Performance against department objectives
· Mentor and coach purchasing team members · Performance of the team against goals
· Foster strong supplier relationship and engagement with AGCO
· Feedback from suppliers and # of active suppliers
· Provide accurate status and progress reports in
· Quality and timeliness of reports and product quality




III. FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE:


The candidate should have in depth knowledge of



Purchasing operations
Manufacturing operations and processes
Supplier evaluation
Cost management
Supply Chain Management
Price negotiation skills
Commodity knowledge
Experience in automotive companies or agricultural equipment manufacturing
Familiar with SAP system will be appreciate it very much



IV. BUSINESS EXPERTISE:


The candidate should be well versed in operations of major international companies with complex manufacturing and purchasing requirement. The candidate should also have good understanding of agriculture industries, agriculture machinery OEM or other related industries.




V. LEADERSHIP/PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:


This position requires supervision of 1-2 professional employees. But have the ability to work independently at the beginning. Budgetary responsibility will be part of the responsibilities and meeting cost reduction targets will be part of performance settings. The candidate should have strong leadership and coaching ability, and should be skilled in persuasion. The right candidate will have extensive travel schedule in order to meet targeted suppliers for price and capacity negotiations




VI. PROBLEM SOLVING:


Problems can be solved by 1) discussion and negotiation with suppliers using facts, market information, leverage, and persuasion 2) build multi-functional support to gain agreement 3) timely involvement of management and gain support by good communications.




VII. NATURE OF IMPACT

The position is critical to the success of AGCO's China Operations and successful localization plan. The person will have to make sure that our China manufacturing operations meets localization plan in terms of timing, cost savings and strong supply base for concerned commodity.

VIII. REAR OF IMPACT:


The position has impact to both internal and external customers. Having a lower cost will benefit AGCO's profit and gain competitive advantage to allow customer to enjoy lower cost and take market share away from competitors


IX. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:


The position requires very strong interpersonal skills as he/she will need to build strong and lasting relationship with 1) supplier partners 2) multi-functional group within AGCO 3) other functions within the China Sourcing Organization 4) team members



The communication can be challenging due to different objectives of various parties involved.




X. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
Indicate the qualifications and number of years experience required, including areas that are industry specific.



· 7-10 years of progressive sourcing experiences in China

· 5+ years working for international companies

· 5+ years of experiences with equipment manufacturers

· BS/BA in business or engineering, MBA preferred

· 5+ years of manufacturing processes experiences

· Oral and written English is a must have

· Proven track record in development of qualified suppliers and delivery of substantial savings

· Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, both domestically and internationally

· Good presentation, negotiation and analytical skills

· Experiences working in a multi-national, cross culture environment with appreciation of cultural differences
