1 - MISSION:
Designs parts and products with regard to project planning, customer and PO specifications and also to Quality, Cost, Lead time, Weight and recycling requirements imposed by the projects and the customer.
Manages functionally the CAD ressources to fulfill the design.


2 - MAIN ACTIVITIES:
Gets from customer all technical elements necessary for the design (Gap and flushness requirements from the customer, surrounding parts, interfaces, …)
Realizes the design of parts and products :·analyzes the feasability (parting lines, demolding, painting, assembly, perceived quality, with regards to functional specifications from customer, recycling …). ·Looks for solutions and proposes results or technical proposals to EPM for project decision.· Assesses the Isostatism (referential) of the parts, semi-finished products and products and updates it during the project.·Builds Tolerance stack-ups and geometry file with the geometry group and updates it during the project life.· Has the Geometry Expert validate the referential and the stack-ups.· Organizes and follows the realization of the numerical definition of the product by CAD people (affected on its project) with regards to the validated concepts (with EPM).·Defines and formalizes with EPM and PPI the reserves areas to be taken into account for the tools realization.· Proposes to the EPM and the quality the list of parts (internal, bought out and surroundings) to be taken into account for the checking fixture realization.· Follows the realization of the internal parts and assembly drawings regarding to the project requirements and technically validates these drawings before submission to the project and signature.
The Design Leader is the technical interlocutor of the customer in collaboration with the EPM.
Technically Follows the Tier 2 suppliers :·attends the technical meetings with the suppliers.· Manages the daily technical flow of information with the suppliers and communicates them with regard to the PO standard preconisations.· Gives his technical feed back to the suppliers regarding proposed solutions (from suppliers) and regularly informs the EPM.· Participates to the validation of the POE drawings with the EPM.· Participates to the validation of the referential, the tolerance stack-ups and measuring points for the parts designed by Tier 2 suppliers.
Invites to, and leads design reviews on the project and participates to other project design reviews to improve the transversality of technical solutions.
Executes the actions decided during the design reviews and updates regularly the action plan.
Takes into account the perimeter extensions after written validation from the EPM. Defines the tuning of the parts and products with the EPM during the Tuning loops phase.
Capitalizes and formalize the lessons learned linked to the design during the project life time.
Remark : The main real activities of the design leader can be enlarged or restrained based on the project perimeter and project type. This Statement of Work has to be validated by the hierarchy and the project.
