Job Responsibilities:
Highly motivated, hands on mechanical or materials engineer needed to support product performance investigations of Otis’ Coated Steel Belt (CSB). Primary responsibility will be to investigate CSB performance issues at Otis jobsites and production factories including conducting jobsite testing, collecting and analyzing test data, conducting root cause investigations and report writing. This engineer will also coordinate the investigations with China-based production organizations and U.S.A. based CSB Engineering group.
The candidate must be capable of working in elevator hoistways to direct and conduct elevator component and system tests.
He/she will be a key member of the Otis Engineering Coated Steel Belt development group based in Farmington.
Education:
Bachelor Degree (Master degree preferred) in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or related degree.
Experience/Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years’ engineering experience related to design, manufacturing and/or application of power transmission or suspension belts or ropes.
Experience in the following areas would be highly desirable:
Industrial Belt design or production experience
Elevator systems or components design, manufacturing or installation experience
Problem Solving with advanced analytical tools
Root Cause Investigation Experience
Materials Lab Experience (non-metallic materials)
Elevator/escalator industry preferred
Strong written and spoken English language skills
Hands-on and can-do, self-motivated individual, capable of communicating with all levels of the organization, especially with factory, field, production and engineering resources.
