Responsible For
？ Company Intellectual Property Protection/Security & Secrecy
？ Delegation of work to QC/Laboratory Technicians
？ Co-ordinating & supervising Production during new product trial stage and all associated safety procedures
？ Co-ordinating new product trials; (i) internally with Technical Service & Product Application Specialists and (ii) externally with Customers via Marketing/Sales

Job Objective
- Develop new products and improve existing products, processes and application techniques.
- Assistant to conduct significant scientific studies and investigation of complex problems.
- Provide support to Sales, Marketing and Production on any technical related issue.
- Co-ordinate within the Ardex group of companies on technical and quality matters and group procurement projects.
- Help implement and maintain the quality assurance system (ISO) in product development, technical service and quality control areas.

Key Responsibilities
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
？ Manage all stages - through to production validation - of technology transfer from within the Ardex group.
？ Formulate, recommend and supervise new product development and improvement of existing products. Ensure the application of sound scientific principles in development, laboratory, production trials and field trials. Make sure that the product developed meets the design input and is safe and user & environmental friendly.
？ Investigate and formulate potential collaborative projects with key suppliers, research institutions or universities as required to sustain ACN’s leading position in innovation.
？ Review and report progress on development projects and communicate within the company and the group.
？ Assign testing procedures for development projects.
？ Keep abreast of changing technology and upgrade technical awareness in areas of interest to the company and be aware of competitive activity in the market place.
FORMULATIONS / BATCH SHEETS / BOM’s & MANUFACTURED GOODS COSTINGS
？ Follow ARDEX policies in regards to keeping intellectual property secure.
？ Maintain and keep hard & soft copy records of all current formulations used in Production.
？ Keep archive files of all superceeded formulations.
？ Maintain Production Batch Sheets in accordance with the current formulation.
？ Maintain the Bill of Material (BOM) Costing File for all locally manufactured products.
？ Update BOM Costing File when notified of raw material cost changes or when formulations change.
？ Inform Finance of any changes to the raw material cost component of any formulations/products.
TECHNICAL SERVICE
？ Co-ordinate with Technical Service & Product Application Specialists in the trialing, training, etc of newly localised & developed products
？ Advise in technical enquiries and specification functions to provide technical advice and recommendation on suitable systems and application specifications.
？ Supervise and evaluate the test programs requested by customers or Sales/Marketing as required.
？ Oversee and supervise the customer complaint investigation and provide professional, yet practical resolutions to site problems or failures.
MARKETING SUPPORT
？ Evaluate the technical integrity of all published data, packaging, literature and others such as web-site information.
PRODUCTION SUPPORT
？ Provide technical advice on the selection of raw materials and participate in the negotiation process with key suppliers as required.
？ Work with Operations in evaluating and providing technical advice on the production processes as required and to ensure the process and plant equipment adapted are fit for purpose and the goods produced meet the standard requirements.
？ Resolve production & quality problems and suggest remedial action when required.
？ Overview quality control and process control activities and ensure the procedures & specifications for raw material and finished goods are followed.
OTHER
？ Take responsibility over any & all company safety matters whether they may be in the lab, factory, warehouse, training centre, job site, office, transport, etc.
？ To maintain high standards of housekeeping so the lab environment is always clean & safe.
？ Delegate laboratory work if/as necessary to QC/Laboratory Technicians.
？ Enlist the help of Technical Service & Product Application Specialists as necessary.
？ Participate & liase with National Accredited Testing Institutions to ensure Ardex products are tested as necessary and maintain approval status.
？ Maintain a knowledge of all of the relevant National & International Application & Product Standards and ensure testing is conducted in accordance with these.
？ Provide monthly & quarterly reports on project work.
