Broadcom is developing solutions supporting the next generation of 3G and 4G high-speed mobile technologies. Broadcom offers a family of LTE, HSDPA, WCDMA, EDGE, GPRS and GSM baseband processors for use in cellular handsets, PC cards and other wireless-enabled consumer electronics.

This is an engineering position in the Mobile Communications Software group at Broadcom. The candidate will be part of a core team developing and extending Broadcom’s next generation mobile multimedia framework. Also support teams of engineers using that technology to create mobile phone handsets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
? Design, implement and integrate software for Android multimedia, including Stagefright, OpenMAX, Codec.
? Troubleshooting and debugging related multimedia issues on various OS, like Android, Linux.
? Identify bottlenecks, and implement performance optimizations anywhere in the multimedia framework.
? Specify software requirements and influence the embedded video codec hardware design.
? Work with tier1 customers to help deliver new mobile chip out to the market.
? Some travel may be required.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
? Requires a BS in CE/EE with 8+ years of related experience, or MB in CE/EE with 5 years of related experience to include at 4+ years of experience in the design and development of multimedia framework or driver on handheld or consumer products.
? Strong C/C++ development and debugging skills required.
? Good understanding of video codec specifications, like MPEG4, H.264, MPEG2, WMV, etc.
? Good understanding of multimedia container specifications, like mp4, 3gp, etc.
? Knowledge of Android multimedia framework (like Stagefright, OpenMAX) is a major plus.
? Experience with embedded operating system (especially Linux or Android) is a plus.
? Experience in video streaming, DRM, Wifi display, video telephone, DTV is a plus.
? Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG/ADB/kernel-debug is a plus.
? Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
