Manager, Server Software Engineering
The Manager, Server Software Engineering, is responsible for managing a team of experienced software engineers building consumer oriented Mobile applications. The Manager will also assume project and product delivery responsibilities. This position will report to the Director, Server Engineering.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of 4 - 8 software engineers who architect, design, and implement server components of the System SEVEN product;
- Manage multiple, concurrent product development activities from concept through design, implementation and release including, review of requirements, level-of-effort scoping of requirements, task assignments, resource allocation, code reviews and bug triage.
- Facilitate and own the creation of detailed project plans and track progress versus plan. Responsible for the communication of project schedules and status across all levels of the organization.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including, Product Management, QA, and Release Engineering, to resolve project dependencies and achieve project objectives.
- Coordinate the resolution of product defects reported by customers by working with the Customer Support and Account Management teams.
- Lead the recruiting of top-notch talent into the team and facilitate the growth of the Engineering organization.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3-5 years of server software engineering management experience with 7+ years of overall software engineering experience.
- Very high technical competence, track record of strong coding and individual technical accomplishments;
- Strong project management skills and experience using project management tools; Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple, concurrent and complex engineering projects;
- Experience with Oracle, MySQL, Postgress or other database technologies, and Cassandra, HBase, cloud computing technologies
- Hands-on experience with J2EE and open source Java technologies;
- Experience with developing large-scale software products that serve millions of users;
- Experience with Java, C/C++, .NET, and Windows technologies;
- Proven ability to manage personnel issues and conflicts, mentor team members at various professional levels, and inspire team by personal example;
- Commitment to excellence and drive to achieve the highest quality standards personally and for the team. Demonstrates expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in both Chinese and English. Communicates effectively across organizational boundaries and demonstrates initiative to build relationships across teams.
- Multi-national company working experience highly desirable
- BS in Computer Science/Engineering or related fields is required. MS/PHD degree preferred.
