Basic Function / General Description:
- This engineer will be responsible for an system or component family
- Will participate in product developments and system integration programs to ensure that design and supply chain concepts are mistake proof solutions and consistently meet Otis's expectations and Quality/Reliability requirements.
- This position is responsible for continues product improvements and coordinates a team of engineers, contract managers, supplier quality and internal customers for turn back analysis.
- The RRCA analysis shall include planning and coordination of improvement activities whether in design, manufacturing and/or field methods and the verification of effectiveness afterwards.
- The engineer will support periodic on site field audits and participates in benchmarking/VSM events to focus on critical characteristics controls & capability for turn back prevention
- He/She will be responsible for supporting the fleet concept, where new products are installed and tracked over a certain period of time to get fast and reliable feedback to drive further product improvement activities.
- The deployment of Robust Design and field installation process as well as Health and Safety Program, including training of Otis associate personnel will be part of responsibility.
Duties, Responsibilities & Authorities:
- Leading the Relentless Root Cause Analysis of Systems/Components (RRCA) responsible for.
- Leading the Improvement Activities in design, manufacturing, supply chain and field to resolve & mistake prove concepts
- Developing an effective monthly reporting structure for AMT/FTB performance measurement
- Leading the "Follow the Fleet" Programs for new components.
- Developing and conducting training for Otis field associates related to Design for manufacturing and Design for Field tools.
- Lead / participate in ACE initiatives and apply ACE tools into PIC daily work and task.
Accountability & measures:
- Job performance will be measured in accordance to Safety, Product AMT/FTB solving ratios & Escapes, MFA's of Otis CLC's, on time completion of RRCA and implementation.
Work experience & skills requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years experience in an electrical system engineering and/or manufacturing quality control or field installation;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both Chinese and English.
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to independently organize tasks and work to a project plan.
- Self-motivated and able to handle pressure
- Good business operations and new product development knowledge.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, statistical process control and advanced quality planning tools such FMEAs, control plans, control charts, Ppk/Cpk studies & analysis, manufacturing flow charts and measurement systems.
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills; knowledge of, and experience with, fishbone, 5 why analysis, pareto analysis and other problem solving tools.
- Knowledge of and experience with lean manufacturing concepts and/or Six Sigma.
- Familiarity with quality system evaluation criteria such as TS16949 preferred.
Educational Requirements
Professional Degree in System Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical / Electrical / Material Engineering or equivalent
