Job Description
Scope of programs: - Geographic spread across US & Asia - Mission critical SoCs with enormous business impact in the $100M+ range - High development cost and effort and significant cross-functional coordination & teamwork Responsibilities: - Project Definition: * Support quote & SOW/PRD generation as needed * Support design managers & program managers in defining baseline plan of record or POR (scope, schedule, resources/budget, quality, etc.) for the program * Develop project plans & risk mitigation plans for new product introduction (NPI) including wafer fabrication, assembly, test, proto ship, validation, qualification and production ramp * Coordinate and facilitate the set up of program teams in cooperation with other functional groups * Drive project plans for product cost reduction and second sourcing initiatives across multiple products - Project Execution: * Setup & moderate regular program review meetings, internal and, if needed, with the customer across time zones * Provide leadership role to cross-functional teams and manage internal and customer interactions as needed * Be an interface to key customer contacts involved in new product introduction & product ramp * Be the main interface to other groups within the company - especially design/product eng/test eng/operations/supply chain etc.; establish and maintain effective communication management * Drive effective communication to senior management on project status and metrics * Drive common stage gate process as well as quality/milestone checklists to enable superior product delivery planning & execution * Drive implementation & adoption of key program management methodologies and tools * Maintain and measure project progress against plan * Support ongoing risk/issue management * Facilitate Project Lessons Learned (internal and with the customer) * Drive continuous improvement in product delivery through collaboration * Train program managers located at other geographic sites (e.g., Asia) * Identify ways to drive major improvements in product delivery TAT, product quality and product cost - General Program management: * Partner with various organizations to drive efficient & common program management practices & capabilities * Drive the development and adoption of common NPI milestones, checklists and handoff requirements * Support PMO in monthly or quarterly program reviews * Become a PMO advocate and expert * Drive the management of product issues in NPI to ensure quick corrective and preventive action implementation
- Skills: * Demonstrated problem solving skills on high-impact problems * Consistent positive "can do" attitude and approach - persistence and diligence to overcome challenges * Excellent people skills and emotional intelligence - with the ability to motivate & direct people without a direct reporting structure * Ability to be a strong team leader and influencer under pressure - strong internal stakeholder and customer management skills * Ability to partner very effectively with & attain credibility amongst a wide swath of functional groups including engineering, marketing, sales, operations, program management, etc. * Detailed knowledge of project management methodology, processes and tools (esp. MS Project) * Engineering degree or equivalent; knowledge of hard disk drives/solid state drives, read channels, and related electronics a big plus * Good understanding of semi-custom/ASIC/ASSP design * Excellent understanding of semiconductor manufacturing, test/validation, product engineering and product qualification * Ability to be strongly self-driven and a self-starter who can succeed with limited startup training * Outstanding verbal, written & communication skills in English * A very structured thinker who has excellent documentation and presentation skills to present issues and status to executive management in ways that effectively convey the message * Excellent working knowledge of MS Office products (esp. PPT, Excel); knowledge of MS Sharepoint & Wikis a plus * A good tops-down and bottoms-up perspective on what is required to effectively take a complete solution to market
Requirements/Qualifications (Education)
- BSEE or equivalent, Masters preferred
- Significant program management experience, relating to semiconductor new product development, introduction and product ramp for large customers/OEMs with revenues in the high tens to hundreds of millions of dollars
- Experience in leading/program managing large, complex, mission-critical semiconductor IC programs involving cross-geographic, international teams in the U.S. and Asia
- Experience dealing with supply chain organizations & major semiconductor suppliers/vendors in Asia
