1. Reporting to Director, International Legal of Alibaba Group, advise on legal aspects of Alibaba Group’s international expansion of current and proposed new e-commerce offerings.
2. Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of the implementation of commercial agreements, business models and strategies, business operations, marketing activities, and product offerings.
3. Research local laws and regulations in foreign jurisdictions and manage outside counsel.
4. Provide advice on platform compliance, cross border logistics, import/export, and payment acceptance.
5. Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and commercial agreements.
6. Develop in-house legal tools and policies, and conduct trainings to business units.

1. Legal license to practice outside of China (for example US, or England and Wales).
2. For legal counsel, 7+ years of post-qualification experience at a leading law firm and/or corporation. In-house experience is welcome, but not mandatory.
3. Experience with e-commerce, and/or cross-border trade transactions (such as import/export, logistics, payments, financing, etc) preferred.
4. English and Chinese language proficiency is essential (i.e. ability to hold business meetings in Chinese, and reading and writing in Chinese).
5. Highly-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure in a start-up environment.
6. Sincere interest in technology, innovation and business. Strong commercial sense with solid foundation in legal training.
7. High integrity and desire to collaborate with others.
8. Open to international travel.
