A Director, Design with Hilton Worldwide will manage the Engineering Team to efficiently maintain all hotel operations such that safety, security, conversation, and compliance are ensured at the highest levels.

What will I be doing?
• Management of design for selected projects in China – including new developments, conversions & Capex / refurbishments.
• Project Director for limited number of selected projects thru Design Concept & Schematics.
• Overview or preparation of design Briefs & guidelines.
• Review standardized designs for Focused-service Brands and F&B concepts
• Contribute to China-specific addenda to global Brand standards for all Hilton brands
• Attend regular Project & Design Review meetings for the region
• Work with developers/owners, design consultants and Project Directors.
• Contribute China-specific info re design as part of PD’s “Toolkit” & Handbook
• Guide & train regional Tech Services teams in design.
• Regular reports to management re design, both generally and for projects specifically
• Presentations to owners, Hilton management , Global Design & other Tech Services
• Maintain Project Consultant Panels (PCPs) for selected design consultants in China and relationships with key regional consultants.
• Review & approve shortlists of Design consultants for projects provided by TS Proj Dirs
• Design reviews of CapEx & refurbishment plans for existing HW properties
• Review designs at all stages of projects for conformity to Hilton Brand standards and Design & Construction guidelines and Brand attributes/Narratives..
• Participate actively in the necessary value engineering stages of design for each project and assist in ensuring that brand quality standards are not compromised in the process.
• Assist TS team in reviewing existing hotels for conversion to Hilton Brands.
• Design scope & ideas for Property Improvement Plans (PIPs)
• Extensive travel within China for projects or client meetings. Potential travel elsewhere
• Preparation of selected projects to submit to DRC (Design Review Committee) for review.
• Participation in post-opening Design reviews with Operations.

Education / Qualifications
• Architect, Interior Designer, F&B design, design manager
Languages
• Fluent English (mandatory)
• Fluent in Mandarin (highly desireable)
Experience
• 8+ years experience of Hospitality design/projects (Mandatory)
• Management or design of Hotel project(s) in China (mandatory)
• Working for an International Hotel operator (desirable)
Skills
• Ability to review Architectural, ID fit-out & other designs quickly and make constructive suggestions for improvements
• Ability to work effectively with and gain respect and trust of owners, developers, design consultants, contractors and with all Hilton departments (including Executive management, Development, Operations, Brand management , Global Design and Tech Services people)
• Good communications both written & verbal
• Sensitivity in dealing with various people, personalities, cultures
• Flexibility to handle changing circumstances
• Able to take total responsibility for design
• Able to work independently
• Able to work on multiple projects at one time
Computer Skills
• Word, excel, PowerPoint , Outlook Email (mandatory)
• AutoCad
