SENIOR INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER @ BOSCH POWERTOOLS

At the Powertools division of Bosch in Shanghai we are currently looking for an outstanding design talent that will help us discover and translate user needs into fascinating innovations that will improve the quality of tradesmen’s work and life around the world.

WHAT?

You will help to grow the newly established interdisciplinary user experience design team at Bosch Powertools. An internal service department, which will cater to the needs of the various product development teams.

This work ranges from tool development for standard applications, such as grinding, cutting, demolition, drilling etc. but also extends into completely new application areas and product innovations.

You understand that any product has to live at the intersection of what is technically feasible, viable from a business point of view and desirable for our users.

Naturally, you find the balance of supporting the day-to-day activities of the teams while at the same time always “pushing the envelope” to extend our business beyond our current portfolio and activities.

You will actively participate in user research where you interact with tradesmen on eye level. You will help to synthesize the gathered information into actionable insights and support ideation and integration of concepts into the teams’ product pipeline.

You feel comfortable in all phases of the design process, but your preference clearly lies in the creation of tangible experiences. You will create eye-catching and emotionally engaging sketches, 2D renderings, hand models, and 3D design concepts - from first ideas to CAD production-ready hand over.

You will contribute to ensure a cutting edge design execution across all of our brands’ touchpoints.

Qualifications

Hard Skills / Experience

Fluent in Mandarin and English! – This is mandatory!

Degree in industrial design and at least 5 years of relevant working experience (preferably agency background)

Solid understanding of engineering and production processes

Proficiency in Adobe CC & CAD

Hands-on prototyping skills for various fidelity levels (from cardboard mockup to 3D print)

Working knowledge of the basic agile methods (SCRUM, Design thinking...)
