Responsiblity：

· Be the focal point for product compliance delivery within the China fluids plant & sales office. Coach and Influence peers and more senior staff ensuring the key issues are understood and supported.

· Establish compliance with group policy, developing local procedures and training Domino China business teams on the safe handling and sale of inks and fluids for food packaging and non-food applications.

· Monitor laws for chemical and packaging manufacture/sale in China and provide the link back to the Group teams to enable ongoing compliance and marketplace intelligence, via horizon scanning. Provide regulatory insight and guidance during the development of new Marking Materials products in Group development. For example, changes to laws on GHS application and local chemical restrictions.

· Rapidly answer customer questions on fluids compliance and components, as an expert in the subject and in local compliance needs.

· Support development of Chinese language product technical/sales documents, that are accurate to what we do and what we make, and also target local customers.

· Lead the local processes for chemical registrations in China, liaising with Group regulatory, local sales teams and external consultants, as necessary. Includes annual volume reporting for Low Volume Exemptions.

Support our standards of good manufacturing practice in the China manufacturing plant, that enable sale of safe fluids to sensitive user-groups (eg food, via EuPIA GMP compliance). Give legal compliance advice that ensures operational processes are robust, and that product and shipping labels are designed and applied to products, complying with laws and policy. Provides regulatory advice so that we can ensure fluids are brought in, stored, made and shipped according to safe and compliant standards.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

· Good degree or higher qualification in Chemistry, Polymer/Materials science or related subject

· At least 5 years industrial experience in the areas of paints/coatings, inks or formulation sciences

· At least 5 years’ experience with a chemical regulatory or chemical product stewardship focus

· Membership of a Professional Body

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

· Project management

· Thorough understanding of the national and international regulatory framework governing chemicals and chemical products - for example the creation of SDS and labels, and the management of chemical registration and control

· Understanding of laws related to food packaging and aspects of food safety in China.

· Experience in both commercial and manufacturing operations

· Able to develop and deliver training & coaching packages for non-technical people.

· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form to a wide often non-technical audience

REPORTING

· Reports direct to the Food Safety Director at DCL. The FSD manages all aspects of standards & performance and appliance of Chinese law and Domino standards & procedures.

· Formal dotted line report to Johnny Tan, GM of DPT, for advising on the successful delivery of operational aspects of product legal compliance. Likely to be in DPT 3-6 working days per month (20). Will also develop a regular communication links with other FCO-type roles in ink plants and Group Fluids Compliance team.
