BASIC PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This position is responsible for providing the strategic sourcing and purchasing solution from Asia Pacific Operations to global BU/RMO. Managing the new product sourcing and facilitating the new product development by working with suppliers and cross functional teams; Driving the supplier base and performance improvements through the scorecard platform and as a category expert to drive, identify the business opportunity and lead the continuous cost, quality and service improvement programs for the specific categories.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and execute the product sourcing strategy for the assigned category/product line with ownership on the category performance in terms of total cost, quality and services.
- Manage the sourcing and purchasing activities such as price, T&C negotiations and to ensure continuity of supply, reduce total costs and prepare for future sourcing challenges for the specific product line/category
- Participate in all project milestone reviews and project conference calls related to sourcing/pricing/supplier management issues
- Manage cross functional activities, identify the opportunity, prepare project and implementation plan.
- Manage the supplier performance by using supplier score card and performance management tools. Lead the corrective action meeting with suppliers until rectification done
- Provide one stop sourcing solution - OEM, ODM, new technology, innovation for BU/RMO in Asia to supply finished products, components, commodities globally
- Perform new suppliers assessment with quality and engineering management team
- Supplier risk management. Ensure governance and customer specific compliances in suppliers. Ensure no financial risk to hamper products quality or supply.
- Analyses external market conditions such as commodity prices fluctuations, currency movements, demand and supply, and recommend actions to management
- Prepare sourcing/market intelligence/supplier base management report, factory note and review with the sourcing director on regular basis
- Manages a broader range of products, and/or a broader range of suppliers (Senior)
- Align and develop supplier technology / product roadmap to support company product development plan (Senior)
- Steer sourcing team with directives to achieve functional KPI targets. Demonstrate best practices to team and share across BUs. (Senior)
Education, Qualification and Training
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain/operations management, engineering or related field is required; MBA is preferred
- Professional qualification in purchasing management or supply chain from the recognized organization is preferred (i.e. CPM, MCIPS)
Experience or Skills required
- At least 12 years relevant working experience in buying office / trading /manufacturing industries with 5 years of people management skill (MNC is preferred)
- Familiar with manufacturing industries of utility products, mechanical products, electrical and electronics products, components, raw and well-known of the operational linkage among sales, customer services, supply chain, production, engineering, quality
- Familiar with world leading retailers operations, and supply chain
- Come with strong sourcing network will be considered in priority.
- Familiar with PC, SAP or Oracle, ERP, MRP,DRP operations
- Good team player, possess strong analytical skill and project management, and with effective communications
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese / Mandarin
- Frequent travels to PRC and other Asian countries is required
