Role Summary

The role is part of the Global HR Total Reward function (GHRTR). GHRTR is responsible for the design, development and implementation of remuneration policy globally that is in line with the regulatory requirements, yet ensuring market competitive for talent acquisition, retention and motivation of high-performing employees.

The Total Reward team in China consists of 2 people with no reporting relationship. The job incumbent is an individual contributor with responsibilities to provide total reward related consulting services to internal stakeholders and assigned client groups including market analysis, job design & job documentation. The job incumbent is expected to perform works within scope of established guidelines and practices. The job incumbent is required to work closely with his/her local counterparts to ensure a joint and consistent approach in the remuneration policy implementation across different geographical areas in China.

The job incumbent is expected to work closely with counterparts in other APAC locations and occasionally the compensation consultants / benefits team in Head Office as well as other departments in State Street including Finance, Legal and across the many areas of HR, e.g. Payroll/Shared Services team.

The job incumbent is expected to manage vendor relationship, e.g. benefits vendors, survey companies, etc. to ensure competitive pricing and contract terms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Utilizes third party salary surveys, gathering market data and analyzes impact on company positions for assigned client groups. Develops recommendations for job slotting/grade placement within internal hierarchy.
2. Provides input to annual salary surveys, including job matching, data reporting and follow up data analysis.
3. Consults Business Managers to identify and resolve compensation issues
 

4. Manages the overall annual compensation cycle activities for the assigned client groups / operating companies e.g. identify & review Material Risk Taker (MRT), validate market data (MRR), guide and review compensation recommendations from line managers to ensure they are within global policies, guidelines and in line with local market trend.
5. Conducts annual review of market trends and pay practices to ensure internal pay levels adequately reflect market pay practices. Identify key benchmark positions, gather relevant market data and conduct thorough positions to market analysis. Develops recommendations for salary structures, pay levels, etc. as needed.
6. Reviews & advises salary packages for new hire, promotion, off-cycle adjustments which including sign-on bonus, stock option grants or restricted stock
7. Researches new benefits programs and provide GHR leadership with recommendations for change
8. Evaluates, periodically review and monitors existing employee benefits program design for competitiveness and cost-effectiveness and align the Corporate & Regional philosophy
9. Monitors and ensure benefits programs are administered in compliance with local regulatory standards and guidelines and that all required reports are filed.
10. Act as subject matter expert to internal GHR Dept. and business lines in the resolution of benefits issues with potential employee and financial impact.
11. Develop, review and update Total Reward related policies/procedures regularly to ensure benefits programs are managed according to corporate governance and in line with local regulatory requirements.
12. Conduct compensation trainings for line managers and HR staff to impact compensation philosophy and policy.

Experience / Qualification / Key Skills / Attributes

? University Graduate, preferable with in Human Resources management or related discipline
? Minimum 7-8 years compensation and benefits experience, preferably with working experience in financial services industry
? Proficient in China employment law, China Social Security law and Individual Income taxation rules.
? Proficient in all office software applications including database and spreadsheet software
? Excellent communication and analytical skills
? Proficient in verbal and written English and Chinese
? Strong interpersonal skills and consultative skills
? Ability to communicate sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
? Ability to partner with all levels of management and employees
